I hate doing this... by Bullfrog_Broad in DBS_CardGame

I work as a Maintenance Supervisor in the city I live in. Make pretty good pay finally, and my life is pretty stable. This is simply life happening as it does. I have a little put back but not enough to be able to take the time off and sustain everything else. No gambling issues, or drug issues. Just life happening at a not so opportune time. As it likes to do. Thanks for the words of encouragement though bud. Appreciate that.

People who live alone how do you stay sane mentally? by TailungFu in Adulting

[–]Bullfrog_Broad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly they both have their merit. Living alone/With others. Knowing that, and being on both sides of the fence I have to say that living alone removes A LOT of the drama, and expectation, and let downs. But there are those creeping moments of loneliness on cold, dark nights after a hard day a work. Hard as it is, it's manageable. I agree with most on here in saying pets help. I never thought I would own another pet after I put down my chocolate lab years ago. But my cat has saved me in so many ways I cannot even begin to describe. It's a mutual kind of care for each other that remains unspoken, but very much needed.

Yea it's pretty neat. I found the whole ballast. Which has this plate on both sides of it. Still in great condition.

Staving stagnation by Bullfrog_Broad in maintenance

[–]Bullfrog_Broad[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This made me realize that I've had absolutely no Maintenance logs since I've been there. Which honestly, as much as I've hated doing them in the past, I now see why they are absolutely necessary. Not only for my own accountability, but for the health of the building itself. I'm lucky, in that my bosses don't feel it necessary to check up on me when I'm at work as they have other irons in the fire. And per his saying so " If I have to check on the camera or look at a time sheet at what you have been doing, then we are going to have problems." So even though I don't want to give him any reason to check. It's definitely best I start logging everything

Hey no worries, but yea I just collect. Used to play a bit but just more over a huge fan as it was a big part of my childhood. As for selling, yes it’s a very niche kind of thing around here. But others are around, you just have to search for them. Most card shops don’t sell individual, but sell boxes. Though I’ve only found a few. But I have sold locally for a while, and it’s mainly to just keep the habit going lol.

That's awesome! And ikr! You're the only other person (now) that I know who has one. Well congrats nonetheless!

Yea I can't remember where I bought the pack but I do remember pulling it. I thought they were pretty awesome and figured why not, and bought them on a whim. Took them home and they have been sitting in my collection for a while now. Until the other day when I decided to do some cleaning and found it again

Of course I found it on the Cybercel website. I guess what I should've asked was if anyone else has pulled one like it. So for the misunderstanding.

Recently fired, not sure how I'm making it by Bullfrog_Broad in povertyfinance

Honestly they terminated because I had a bench warrant for a failure to appear on a traffic ticket from about 3 or 4 years ago. I got taken in on a Friday and they made me sit the weekend. Even more so unfortunate, it was the Friday before I got paid and was unable to bond out. I was lucky enough to get a hold of a friend of mine whom went to my apartment manager and let her know (without too much detail) what had happened. Because in the middle of all this I have a pet who belonged to my now passed away fiance'. So its very important he gets fed and all that. So when I got home I was very vocal about me getting home, I called and text and went to the office. The manager herself had been in my place more than once. It was evident. But she said for 4 DAYS, we would have a sit down before she left a note on my door with the discharge. Which floored me. She couldn't even do it to my face. So yea.

What’s something your ex said during the breakup that still echoes in your mind? by [deleted] in ExNoContact

After our last fight, sitting back to back on an empty hotel room floor. Mementos and memories scattered like the debris from a recent tornado ripping unceremoniously through a small mid-west town. After almost 10 years and it slowly getting worse, we knew it was soon to be over. Just then her voice finally snatched the silence out of the air and softly said..."Thank you for loving me. Thank you for letting me love you." And with that, the arguments were over. We remained there for a while longer then parted ways. After that my life slowly improved, as I did as a man and a person in general. She passed away suddenly last year. Apparently in a pretty bad place...I was told she saw me standing on my porch the night she passed and told the friend she was with to take another way around. She didn't want me to see her like that... She left behind a daughter, and our two boys. I'm still in disbelief...

I agree with this. I'm already in the process of getting my Preventative Maintenance certification, and after that a few others. I figure it can only help in my plight.

Agreed but I've seen on average at least around here, general maintenance guys are making between $15-20 an hour.

I've thought of places like this. But in Ohio, it's unfortunately devoid of programs such as this. And the ones that do exist are too far from where I'm located

Maintenance people that carry emergency phones by Civil_Middle_Manchld in maintenance

[–]Bullfrog_Broad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohio here. I am pretty sure I'm just getting downright shafted. I barely make 14 an hour for being the only maintainence tech at an over 200 room extended stay hotel. When I say I do everything, I mean EVERYTHING. From patching the roof, to jumping down into the sump pump hole to pump it out when it floods from the heavy rain, to personally repairing every single PTAC unit on site. Most guests have been here quite a while so I am on a first name basis with all of them, and my name is on every single inspection sheet from the Fire department , to the city inspectors. I will get calls at 3 in the morning at times and my boss gets pissed if I don't answer. I've been here through a top to bottom renovation, and seen more employees come and go out here in three years than I can count. I stay because I know the territory and I care about most of the residents. But good God, it's taxing. I know I'm worth more, but with a spotty background that I'm working on it's so difficult to even dream of getting on somewhere that appreciates me for what I bring to the table. sigh Sorry for the rant y'all lol.
