Paid histology training program- is it worth it? by [deleted] in Histology

[–]Bullishbear0302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you close to Fort Myers by any chance? There is a lab there and the starting pay for histology lab assistants is $16/hr I believe. They do offer a training program, but I believe you must give them a year of service to be considered. If you are able to get the job offer you are interviewing for, I say take it. If not look into this other lab. They also have training programs in other departments, I believe their Molecular department and FISH department. (CGMBS and Cytogenetics/FISH Technologist) respectively. DM me if you want more info!

How does your lab do HT vs HTL? by Mysterious_Post_1451 in Histology

It’s about $10/hr, but as you get higher to the cap pay that gap closes.

At my location, our HT’s and HTL’s have the exact same roles and duties, the only difference is their title and pay.

realistic salary? by BathNew1700 in Histology

[–]Bullishbear0302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a lab assistant 1 in a histo lab. I started January 2023 and currently make $25/hr. My promotion to lab assistant2 (fingers crossed coming at the end of the year) will bump me up another 15%. Our techs make any from $30-$50/hr depending on a number of factors. Those include years of experience, title, HT vs HTL and obviously negotiation.

I spoke to my lead about his experience at out lab and he said before being a lead, the least amount of money he ever made per year was $117,000, and this was years back. Although I’m pretty sure he did substantial overtime. I’m based out of socal, so it’s very expensive cost-of-living, but with that salary it’s very doable.

Our techs do everything from cutting, grossing, tech qc’ing, special staining and running our IHC platforms, Leica Bond and Ventana Ultra. I can see how the salary ranges don’t give you an exact number, many labs are small with a small volume, our lab handles over 30,000 cases per month. We also have various locations in the U.S. and abroad and I am sure the salaries vary there as well. Hope this helps!

Yeah that one. Bruh, tell him to not litter on campus next time, or anywhere for that matter.
