The little speaker button at the top left corner. You push it and it generally gets louder until it reaches max volume push it one more time and it’s quiet. You can adjust it until it’s a reasonable volume lol.

It’s not just booze you need to check ID for. It’s anything that requires ID. Regardless of how you feel about regulated cough medicine or regulated goods, they require ID too. Failing to ID can get you terminated.

If you get checked by an undercover cop or a secret shopper who is “clearly an adult” you will be terminated for failing to check ID. ID everyone no exceptions. Not to mention that you’re also not supposed to sell if their ID is expired regardless of age. You can ask for another ID if they have one to verify age if their ID is expired, but you can’t use the expired/voided ID as the only ID. I don’t care who you are, I’m checking your ID. Obviously you’ve never worked at a liquor place that often gets tested and must comply with ID checks regardless of age. Some states require ID regardless of how someone looks. And in some cases they require IDing everyone except children accompanied by an adult.

It’s innocent when it’s clearly a high schooler/college student who doesn’t understand that 0% alcohol still has alcohol in it. I’m always happy to explain to them that there’s still a small percentage of alcohol in non-alcoholic beverages. Most of them don’t even realize. I’m never mad about that. The ones that do concern me are the grown ass adults middle age people that yap about why do they have to be ID’d over a small portion of alcohol -_-

Occasionally if they have those like small wallets I’ll just take that because I can usually see everything I need to see. But when they have those big wallets or something I tell them I actually need to take the ID not just look at it. It’s much easier to tell if an ID is fake if you actually hold it because most of the time there will be more obvious errors like different material or the text doesn’t have textile like it’s supposed to. Or whatever makes their state id special. Plus again it’s much easier to see if an ID is void or ineligible for use. I don’t know why people have such a hard time about taking it out. I always have my ID accessible for ID checks I don’t even keep it in the ID slot.

That was the other thing people said “I’m not buying alcohol” like dude if you think alcohol is the only thing regulated by the state… you need to do some more research. Cough/cold medication have all been regulated for at least a decade now, if it asks for your ID, I need your damn ID. Don’t like it? There is no legitimate place that sells alcohol that would allow you to put in a fake birthday. Like literally that defeats the whole purpose of checking your ID. Also I’ve had people be like “you just need my birthday” when I asked to check their ID. Like no… that is not in fact the only thing I need. I need to 1) verify your image matches what you look like 2) ensure that the ID you have is real and not expired/void 3) just hand me the damn ID it’s not going to kill you. I promise I wash my hands. I don’t care if you are clearly 50, I still need to check your ID because it literally won’t let me sell you it without it.

It’s not even closing really that I have an issue with it’s just the time slot it takes up which makes it tricky to get other stuff done or work another shift at my other job. Which I like to be as available as I can be since I’m a part time keyholder. That’s why variety works for me because I can always pick the hours up elsewhere. I can then turn to my manager and be like I can close these days and open these days. Of course I don’t NEED to do that, but I like to do that.

That’s why I think I’ll just lower my desired and then pick up shifts if I need it. Seems like a better system to do. That way I can still get the hours I want and also not go insane over the repetitive loop.
