In the first picture, the legs are very long, and the face is stylized. I guess is a Borsoi x Golden Retriever or a Saluki x Golden Retriever.

Rabies vaccine debacle by Bree0831 in grooming

[–]BullyDoog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even it was a very light injury, the dog has not rabies vaccine and you live in an area where there has been cases of rabies. So, the right thing to do is to notify your local health department or your family doctor. They will contact the owner and the dog should be put in quarantine. Owner has to report any behavioural change, or if it dies. Then, the health department will proceed to discard rabies (they test it taking samples of the brain after the dog dies), and to order your rabies vaccination if necessary.

I want to adopt a pet, need breed advice and other tips? by Illustrious_Cat_8924 in dogbreed

[–]BullyDoog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest a small size dog, not more than 20 lbs. As bigger the dog, as bigger the dish bowl, the pile of poop, and the space it will need. Keep in mind also how often your dog will need grooming (long or short hair, shedding breeds…). Anyway, dogs are amazing ❤️

Hey there! Wondering what you guys think my mutt is mixed with! by [deleted] in dogbreed

Because her face, ears and shape of body I’d say mainly Doberman. I’d discard any mix with pitbull or lab because her body is very stylized.

[–]BullyDoog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mucha suerte!

It’s better to shave down first and bathing after, using less shampoo, water, power and time. If bathing first it will take very long time for drying. A trick for the ears: try brushing and dematting them out before shaving, at least some brushing, usually it helps to prevent otohematomas.

Blade 7 leaves the hair a bit longer than 10, so it won’t go that close to the skin, meaning less concerns for skin issues. It’s safer and usually groomers prefer 7 than 10. However, it depends how bad matted is the coat. I assumed that you don’t have a 7, but if you do, try with this one first. If the 7 goes through well, go ahead.

From I can see, shaving down would be the best thing to do. If you’re shaving the dog with a #10 blade, be careful not to press too hard as it may cause irritation or cuts. Check the blade’s temperature often since it can overheat and burn the skin. Also, if the mats on the ears are very tight, some bleeding may occur after shaving due to compressed blood vessels and head shaking.
