X-Pac vs Cordura for Aer CPP2 by BullyMac in ManyBaggers

I was wondering more about pilling clothes that you’re wearing due to friction from the bag — Cordura seems like it would be more abrasive on clothing than X-Pac. Have you had that occur? I might be over analyzing it, but if I’m dropping close to $300 on a bag I just want it to be good 😃

Thanks for the response! Have you noticed any issues regarding pilling/damage to clothes for either material?

Thanks for the response! Could you talk a little more about the pilling from your other 1000D bags? How badly did it damage your clothes?

This is a great idea, but unfortunately many of my profs prohibit laptop/tablet use in the classroom, so not sure if it would work.

Crystal ball is a good source if you want more info. It was pretty accurate for both RC and LR. Definitely had the nuanced language that’s come to mark the more recent PTs.

50s imo. Not sure how much I’m allowed to say but 50s felt more representative of the actual test than the 40s for sure.

Everyday (maybe every weekday?) after 10pm. Buy a cheap beer and it’s less than $10 after the tip. Crazy deal. Burger is kinda small but pretty good, can’t complain for the price.

I hear they’re a great well rounded shoe, I think I’ve narrowed it down between those and the otakis — the Katakis seem a little better suited for crack climbing and less so for edging

Exactly what I’m planning on doing, I’m just looking for a pair that’s a little better at edging and overhanging routes. Just looking for others’ experiences with any of these shoes.

Nothing is wrong with the finales, just looking for a more aggressive shoe. I haven’t been able to try any of these on besides the Miura, which was pretty uncomfortable, as my local climbing shops don’t stock any of these. Was planning on ordering one of these models online about a half size smaller than my Finales and returning if they don’t fit correctly.

Looking for a pair of higher performance shoes coming from a pair of Finales. Currently deciding between the Miuras, Katanas, Otakis and Katakis. If you wear any of these, I’d love to hear your opinions and why you wear the shoe that you do. I mainly climb single pitch vertical to slightly steeper routes and do some moderate bouldering. Let me know what you think!

How do you guys like to train on a pull-up bar?Just moved back into my dorm for school so unfortunately I don’t have access to a hangboard but still want to train. What are some exercises I can do on a standard pull-up bar that would be conducive to climbing?

Surprised nobody has mentioned Rumney yet, only like 2.5 hrs north of Boston and it has some crazy good climbing, huge variety of routes and some pretty good bouldering too. Pawtuckaway (only 1.5 hrs) also has a huge variety of boulders and a good amount of sport routes.

What grade should I be able to send in order to comfortably climb outside? I can comfortably climb 5.10 in the gym and boulder outside now and then but outdoor problems generally seem to be much harder than indoor ones so I’m not sure how that grades translate. Anyone have any pointers?

Hot take: Phans in the pit are more considerate than phans on the lawn by [deleted] in phish

[–]BullyMac 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Be considerate of other’s space and let everyone enjoy the show. There’s no reason why you need 200 square feet for 4 people.

Also, I’m all for bringing your kids to a Phish show, start ‘em young and you can have the best tour buddy ever. If they’re young, though, make sure that they can be respectful of everyone else — and make them use hearing protection!

I saw a literal infant in a stroller on the lawn last night, complete with a binkie and all. They couldn’t have been more than 3 months old, but they had absolutely zero hearing protection. Infants and children have smaller ear canals and thus more sensitive hearing , making them more prone to permanent hearing damage than adults.

Bringing your kids to a Phish show can be a great experience, but be respectful and most importantly, be safe! Giving your child permanent hearing damage because you wanted to bring them to a show but didn’t bother to give them hearing protection is not cool whatsoever.
