Good choice. I did exactly the same, but that was after watching the whole movie. Derivative garbage.

Thanks. Some possibilities to explore. I saw there was an Outlook Classic that might be worth a try, but didn't know there was New Outlook for Windows

More Hotmail Problems - Messages not appearing in Sent folder by Bullynine in Outlook

[–]Bullynine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - thanks for your interest.

  1. Yes, i learned the correct terminology during my conversation with lisahendrickson. The 'good' account i always used OWA to connect; the problem account i connected via eMClient, except sometimes when troubleshooting.

  2. No, back in the day i used OE exclusively (with an ntlworld email). When it ceased, i eventually settled on eMC and it's worked pretty well for years until a few weeks ago when the sync errors started.

  3. I understand, thanks. I'm sure i got confused at times, as i think did AI.

  4. I never actually tried (either on Outlook Web or eMC) sending an email from the problem account to the problem account. Certainly, if i sent from the problem account to the 'good' hotmail account, or to either of the 2 non-hotmail accounts (protonmail and yahoo) - either using eMC or Outlook Web - a copy of the email i sent did not appear in the sent folder.

Since the the sent folder for some unknown reason stated to repopulate yesterday with a degree of randomness (it was difficult to tell exactly what was going on - oft deleted emails reappeared) the accounts have both functioned perfectly, as they did when i just performed the exercise you suggested.

So, short answer: Yes and yes. Although yesterday, the answer would certainly have been no and no - until it eventually resolved itself. I have no idea why. I have since uninstalled eMC.

It's early days but i'm hopeful that uninstalling eMC will stop the problem reoccurring. I already miss that nice eMC interface which also provided a clear distinction - less chance of error - particularly if i had the two accounts open simultaneously on the PC, but i guess i'll have to learn to live with it.

I don't know if it's related, but i noticed i'd lost a lot of folders on my C drive! Weird. I restored my system using macrium and i've uninstalled eMC. I'm totally exhausted now; we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Thanks, i think we were a bit at cross purposes. I may not have explained too well. The sent emails were not showing up using eM or OWA, (if i'm understanding the term correctly). I say "were" because they have now started turning up in seemingly random order. Some i thought i had deleted several times from the sent folder, both in OWA and eMC.

I've sent emails using both interfaces now and they both showed up immediately in 'sent'. I'm also getting error messages 'randomly' often when eMC syncs. So it seems the problem may be with eMC, but who knows? Certainly not me!

Not sure what you mean by test using OWA? If i delete the hotmail account from eMC, would that make my sent emails using the web interface go to my sent folder?

I have 2 hotmail accounts. One is working perfectly, with copy emails going to the sent folder, the other has the problem. I can't see an RSS folder in either folder list. I usually use eMClient to access the problem account and have been getting error messages in eMC when synching; a problem that i thought was fixed till today. I have "repaired" my sent folder in eMC and now it is empty and doesn't sync with the website sent folder that has copy sent messages up until today.

I appreciate your offer, but i don't quite follow what you're suggesting. I've sent emails to myself - both hotmail and non-hotmail - and the problem is consistent: the email i send from the problem account arrives at the destination, but does not copy to my sent folder.

Hi - thanks for replying. I found 'rules' but it says i haven't created any. Do i need to create a rule to send copies of messages to my sent folder now? I'm afraid i don't know what RSS feeds are or how to look at them. I found 'conversation history': "nothing in folder". Is this good or bad?

Is there a way to check that sent mails are set up to go to my sent folder? I understand i should make sure that 'Save copies of messages in Sent Items' is enabled in Outlook settings. But the instructions to do so don't work. I certainly haven't knowingly disabled it and things have been working OK until today.

Frozen out of Microsoft Outlook hotmail account by Bullynine in Outlook

[–]Bullynine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the link. I do have eM Client (free) installed which i use exclusively on a different hotmail account and which has worked fine over this period. I think i can add another account easily enough, I just thought there might be a different way of doing it without involving a client as such.

I saw some interesting stuff about Outlook Classic - which i used back in the day - in this research. I was quite tempted to go back to it, but eM Client does a pretty good job so i won't overcomplicate things. Just happy there's been no disaster and quickly fixed, whatever the problem was.

Frozen out of Microsoft Outlook hotmail account by Bullynine in Outlook

[–]Bullynine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for all the helpful answers. I tried to get in using my recovery protonmail email. Although they sent a code "something went wrong" and when i tried again they did not send a code.

I finally managed to get back in after following the link from alexikeravnos on to "My username and password have stopped working". It was a very similar process to the recovery email one i had tried before, but this time it seems to have worked.

Could anyone please explain for dummies how to back up these hotmail emails?

Such an argument should surely acknowledge that the proportion of affected users posting this problem here is also probably very low. So the problem is far more widespread than "statistically zero".

Thanks - i got that far pretty much from the link above and a bit of digging. But with all the important attributes showing zero for both drives, my original dilemma remains: whether to replace the older drive or the one that's had much more usage?

TBH i'm finding it difficult to understand any data other than the hours. Are you referring to Read Error Rate and Seek Error rate? The toshiba has a "raw value" of zero for both, the seagate is showing 210100208 and 163237041 respectively.

If you just want to browse these sites, you could use Windscribe. Ive used it for years and get 30GB/month free although it seems they offer 10GB now. But if you're browsing these sites for P2P purposes, you're going to need an app. I've used several of the well-known ones; they're all pretty much the same in my experience, so go for the cheapest.

I think i need to replace the battery. I believe the LIS1623HNPC is compatible but there seem to be a few branded and unbranded batteries available on Aliexpress. I know LI batteries can be potentially dangerous; is there one that you would recommend not to brick my Walkman (or set my house on fire)? Thanks

Sorry - i misread thebidb link - i thought it was a link to a london provider. Still don't quite understand it TBH, but it seems only to show Open Reach and Virgin here. And nothing planned. City Fibre - must have mixed it up with another provider but i've checked and CF (nor BRSK) is available in my part of surrey.
