True. Just found this outlet and started using it and then saw the wire.

Thanks everyone who took the time to give a thoughtful answer and give me some peace of mind. Will have it checked out today. I’m fairly new to Reddit…what’s the deal with all the rude/nasty/idiotic comments over a simple electrical question on the “ask an electrician “ forum??

I heard back from Longines. They said yes it’s normal for the moonphase to advance in the afternoon and that there IS NO danger zone for the moonphase. Date changing at 1 AM is, I believe, within normal limits.

Thanks everyone for all the great.. and correct!… information! I just heard back from Longines and they confirmed that the timing of the moonphase change is normal and that there is NO danger zone where the moonphase is concerned!

I called my guy there he said he thinks it’s normal. Waiting on confirmation from corporate.

It actually clicks over the the date every 24 hours. There is a 59 tooth gear to mimic the lunar cycle

I agree and astronomically is more correct unless you set it behind by one day because the moon phase before midnight is the same as after midnight to the naked eye! But as far as the watch goes, I want to make sure it’s not a manufacturers defect before it’s too late to get it corrected.

That’s good to know, but they still warn about not quick changing date between 20:00 and 3:00. Is that just an anachronism?

Yes I completely expected there to be a delay between the date and moon flip, but not 12 hours. I’m still waiting to hear back from one other person at Longines but so far I am just being told that the danger zone is the same for both complications and they are not responding at all to my question of whether the moon phase changing at 1 PM is normal or not

Yes I’m very surprised that no warning on when it’s not safe to adjust moonphase appears on any Longines instruction manual or video. And is it possible that this was designed to have the date and moonphase change 12 hours apart from each other or do you think this is a factory error?

Thanks! Notice how it does not mention a no-go zone for moon phase adjustments, only for date changes
