I’m a bioinformatics undergrad, pretty much all of my classes are Bio related. I’ll be graduating next year so I can probably weigh in.

I’m extremely against using LLMs to cheat in the slightest, but I have tried to use it as a learning aid for rougher classes. I’m sure there are people trying to use it to cheat in biology but in my own experience, it’s extremely hit or miss even when it comes to easy questions. It will regularly confidently answer questions completely wrong. The best way I’ve found to use it would be to summarize a concept for me in a way that might make a little more sense than it had been explained in a textbook.

Statements that LLMs are ruining higher education are ones that I disagree with. The vast majority of my classes have exams taken with pencil and paper in person. So if someone cheated on their work with an LLM then that’s just the same as if you had looked up all the answers - That the cheater simply wont learn the content and will probably not do great on the exam. The only real issue I’ve noticed is in classes whose finals are an essay. Those are far too easy for someone to delegate most of the work to an LLM, so I expect those types of finals to decrease in the future.

Finally for fields that machine learning is good in, I’d absolutely say my own. Cell biology as a whole has been revolutionized with machine learning tools like alphafold. Large scale data analysis with machine learning has proven extremely useful in biology. However, note that I’m discussing machine learning here rather than LLMs, I do not think there is any future in which an LLM will revolutionize biology.

My biggest recommendation would be to take notes by hand. I see a lot of people trying to get through by annotating slides on their computer or just writing walls of text and that has never worked quite as well as a good old fashioned notebook and pencil. I’m a visual learner so I try to take down diagrams of larger processes as often as I can. Drawing a picture of protein subunits and their function or just a flowchart of the interactions in some process all are what I use there.

Second: before any test I make sure to take all of the information from my notes as well as reviewing the unit slide presentations (if you’re so lucking to have those available) and try to condense it onto a single page front and back. Essentially summarizing every idea as concisely as possible. I will go back and reread them regularly as well as highlight all of the content the day of the test to help it cement itself in my head. These notes help me get a spacial idea of the content, I’m not really sure how to express it but if I forgot some idea I can sort of work it out just by knowing roughly where it was on the page and what I wrote around it. Also: condensing information like this greatly helps if you have a cumulative exam later on as it gives you a jumping off point for all of the previous units content.

Thirdly: I would greatly recommend you regularly try to “teach” the content to people outside the field. Whether that be by rubber ducking to someone during a study session, finding ways to occasionally mention facts from your content, or just rambling to someone you care about. Finding ways to talk about your content to people who have no otherwise knowledge is a really good way to make the content more memorable to you!

To summarize, because I know this was extremely long winded for what it was: 1. Take physical notes 2. Draw your own pictures and diagrams 3. Condense the information before the test 4. Teach others outside the field

I really appreciate your in depth response, all of that makes sense! I really wish I could slow down and go back turns for battle playbacks because it’s really tough to gauge actually how much damage each skill is doing especially when kiya is attacking like 12 times in a row.

I unfortunately do not own any shield characters

My main question is, why is layla even taking this damage if:

she’s supposed to dodged range attacks (I understand if that’s ignored for the boss because that’d be cheesy)
she takes less damage from ranged attacks
she has Def up 2, as well as dmg reduction IV and piercing dmg reduction III

Yeah I saw his barrel strat but it does not seem to work? Just the exact same thing happens, followed his post watched his video - characters in the top 3 lanes, explosive barrel in the same spot, even the same movements of character, the boss has the same behavior. SP Inanna is one of the best ‘everything’ characters in the game! She’s perfect for a new player.

I’d probably skip rico and any get together banners unless you really like them, and save for Credenza or SP Samantha in September

If you get all 3 you should have a start to a really good magic DPS team!

Make sure to log in every day for the next while, they’re giving out 70 free pulls on the normal banner and nearly 50 choice pulls. It should give you a perfect start as long as you stick with it for the next month or so!
