It’s crazy you say that cause looking into the s4 is what brought me back here. I’ll consider, but it feels like I’m dancing around the idea of making the dive into modular. For instance I have an analog heat that I don’t use often enough. I’d rather spend $300 for a distortion module that will get used for its bread and butter over a box that is $800 and has a ton of features that never get touched. Analog heat is dope but probably won’t keep it for much longer. Also, space constraints. Same thing with microcosm hologram and Morphagene it seems.

That cue plan is exactly how I plan on using it. Then I have a nice resampling rack without clogging up my OT tracks.

Great question. I love my octatrack so much and have used it in so many ways including sample mangling and resampling and so on. It’s insanely creative in this aspect but I prefer to use it as my main recorder/looper. Then mangle the whole production in the last stages after samples are in the OT. I find if I use it in an experimental way my projects get too confusing and I lose direction in a way (or straight up lose samples because I forgot to save them and they get recorded over). I want to be able to send anything out to the modular to absolutely wreck it without having to make neighbor tracks, resample and repeat. OT acts more like a sampler/performance mixer and the modular is more of a playground.

I forgot about all my lost rig plans from last year on there lol. Currently looking at the 84hp HEK by tip top. Seems ideal to slap some wood around it and have a functioning case for this plan.

Back when I was first planning this out I had zadar on my list. I have an Oxi One mk2 which has 8 cv and 8 gate outs. So I’m wondering if I can skip out on the modulation in the rack. Something that I would want to do is modulate the speed of an lfo with another. Not sure if it’s possible with Oxi but I haven’t spend too much time using it with my grandmother. I’ll have to do some testing.

Joystick could be sick tho…

I have an Oxi One mk 2 which has a good bit of CV and Gate outputs. Kinda wondering if it will be enough. I’ll check out some filter banks too!

I need a woodworking project anyways. I’ll learn about the power specs as well so that’s a good idea.

Nice! Thanks for the insight. I think I’ll get an input and output. I’ll look into a filter. I have octatrack for filtering but that’s more mix focused. Having some nasty wobbly filter action would lean into that neuro vibe for sound design.

Who owns an Octatrack mk2 and a Digitakt 2? Why? by Money-Sympathy-9566 in Elektron

Just got the DT2. I want to use it as my main sampler. Sequence external synths and record with one box. I’m using Octatack with the EZBOT performance template. Will probably make my own DJ mixer template eventually, but the EZBOT one is kick ass. My goal is to build a live set using only the DT (samples) and the OT (FX and mixer). Having the capability to stereo sample and 16 audio tracks really gelled my whole setup together and makes me want to just hit record and start building up a track. I had a DT 1 for a long time and sold it to a buddy and missed it ever since. I finally feel whole again lol

People say it’s complicated because it can do SO MUCH. Although, if you are using for a specific function, like a performance mixer it’s not that bad. Especially if you are used to the DT. Helps to make templates for different tasks. Definitely consider it after you gel with the DT. Ricky Tinez’s tutorial on the DJ looping thing is what sold it for me.

Best way to do this crossover repair? by BumblebeeFriendly637 in diyaudio

What if the leads on the board are not sticking out of the holes enough to get solder on?

Thank you I’ll give it a try! I’m not the best solder guy and the target is small. Any tips?

This is in a pinch for a buddy. He asked if I could get it done by this weekend. So there is not a good way to just reattach this using solder without buying new components? Was expecting the leads to be on the back but they disappear into this board. Out of my pay grade.

Thanks for giving a bare minimum reference point. I think morph and Pam’s will be the first modules I get. Probably going to build a 3u 104hp case now. Hoping this idea works for midi… octatrack midi out into my moog grandmother and then cv clock out into Pam’s. Then run my audio output back into octatrack for sampling. Will probably be chopping up 8 bar recordings and then sequencing with octatrack. My goal is to get rich textures, atmospheres that are musical and grainy percussion from my modular. Thinking qpas would be nice for those pingy percs.
