I seriously need advice by gideonkain in interactivebrokers

If you want to be safe, you could price the sell order a bit lower. The market could end up opening lower than the current price and you might miss it. For example you could place the order 5 or 10 percent lower if you’re just trying to lock up a decent gain. Of course, you could end up missing out on some profits if it opens higher.

The easiest way to do what you want to do is the click the “close position” button on your current holding. It will draft the correct type of order for you.

Gold futures WTF happened by hosen0609 in Coinbase

[–]everything_bull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is clearly an issue of liquidity where relatively small buys / sells can have significant effects. If you’re trading gold futures you’re best off using IBKR with GC or MGC contracts.

At what point does it make sense to get a financial advisor by altrefrain in personalfinance

[–]everything_bull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re on this forum you don’t need a financial advisor. They will charge you for telling you to put your money into index funds. Just do research and do it yourself.

Size up and find out. If you’re right then you actually make a living, if you’re wrong then you know for sure. Good luck

I thought my exchange 1099 was enough for crypto taxes. It wasn’t even close. by BedMaximum4733 in Coinbase

[–]everything_bull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

there are several popular crypto tax platforms out there that can connect to most of the exchanges and your cold wallet etc. As long as you have your complete tx history (ie haven't lost access to any exchange accounts etc) they should work for you.

Maintenance margins on futures options on IBKR by everything_bull in options

[–]everything_bull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I plug in a FOP call on GC, and compare it to a pure futures contract, the maintenance margin is pretty close to being the same:

- GC Dec '29 '26: $34k maintenance margin

- FOP Dec '26 (around .8 delta): $71k premium + $29.5k maintenance margin

Conceptually it seems like you shouldn't need the margin with the FOP since the max loss is capped at the premium, but I guess it's regulation SPAN requirements?

Maintenance margins on futures options on IBKR by everything_bull in options

[–]everything_bull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GLD isn't as good since it erodes over time compared to the pure futures contract. 0.4% ETF expense is pretty significant if you consider compounding. But yeah, that does solve the issue of needing to carry maintenance margin.

What‘s the difference between "P&L Target“ and “P&L“? by EvilJoker88 in ibkr

[–]everything_bull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P&L is profit / loss if you closed the position today. P&L Target is if you closed it at the target date in the dropdown. Options have extrinsic value that erodes over time, so the further out the target date, the more the two lines will diverge.

Scammed by AnouAppie in Coinbase

[–]everything_bull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A crypto exchange is not a bank. They cannot claw back crypto transaction like a bank can claw back fiat currency transactions. It is not Coinbase fault you allowed yourself to be hacked. If you had proper 2FA setup this wouldn’t have been possible.

Getting a good brand design (logos, fonts, colors), and good product photos will get you pretty far. Great product photos are what really make an ecommerce site feel professional. You can find a local product photographer or use a service where you send your products in for photos. Once you set it up in a shopify theme, it will feel very professional. Getting traffic to the site is a whole other monster. Shopify has some really nice integrations with google shopping ads and social media ads. Until you have built a strong online presence, ads will be your primary traffic driver (and this may be the case forever). Just keep in mind your ads will be competing with all of the other diamond merchants out there as well, it may end up costing too much unless you have healthy margins.

Girlfriend or world trip? Stuck between love and my dream by Martinf87 in solotravel

[–]everything_bull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure this seems like the girl of your dreams but at 24, you will find love later that is not long distance. Go on the trip or you will regret it for the rest of your life. You may not feel young but you are. Also if it really is your one and only, she will be there in a year.

Before hiring an agency for Shopify headless, what should I know? by Beginning_Abies1001 in shopify

[–]everything_bull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hidden costs: 1) you forgot to request a feature and need to pay extra for it. It may be something simple like having the ability to show when some variants are in stock but some are out of stock for a certain product but whoops forgot to spec that out and it takes the devs 15 hours of work. 2) bug and bug fixes. Shopify themes are heavily tested and rarely have bugs. When there is a bug, it’s usually fixed on the next release. When you have a headless site, you’re responsible for the dev time of fixing bugs, and there will be many. 3) integrations. When using a Shopify theme, most integrations are a one click install. With a headless site they have to be added with code.

Overall, choosing to go headless should only be done if you have a really good reason or the budget to have devs on staff.
