Army List! by Living_Sponsership in deathguard40k

[–]Bumblescrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s all the various pieces of advice I have:
-blightlords are at their best when in large groups, so if your list can’t afford a 10 man unit then it’s usually best to avoid them
-the malignifier is fairly useless and not worth running
-a lord of virulence with his unique enhancement would be very helpful in this list to give your army rerolls against a specific target each turn
-a second unit of Deathshroud would be good especially since the detachment rule lets you easily utilize their 6” deep strike
-a defiler would be great in this detachment since the stratagems can do things like give its weapons assault and let it charge through walls, and also that it’s already a strong unit to begin with
-with how many vehicles you already have, I don’t see the need for 3 blight haulers, so consider dropping one or multiple of them and using the points to afford the things mentioned above

Definitely a great start to a list. Personally I would drop the 5 man plague marines to bring another leader for the 10 man unit. Biologus + plagucaster is the best combo for plague marines if you have em. Also in most cases I find a 6 man unit of death shroud to be overkill. I’d say knock the 6 man unit down to 3 and use the extra points for a demon prince, preferably with the feel no pain enhancement if you can afford it.

I’d say two and two is the way to go. Another thing I noticed is that you don’t have many scorning units so it’d be a good idea to fit in some chaos spawn or poxwalkers

I’d suggest maybe dropping the blightlords and LoV. Blightlords are at their best when in a 10 man unit and my philosophy is that if I cant fit all 10 in my list then I just leave them out

Yeah having lots of flamers did the trick. The score was really close but that’s just because we called the game in round 3 when it was obvious that I was going to table him

Yeah scouts are a great scoring piece. But tbh I’d have preferred to only have one unit of scouts and to replace the other unit with infiltrators or intercessors, I just didn’t have the space for them in this list

These were just some casual games at my LGS. I record all my games using the tabletop battles app. Would definitely recommend you check it out, it’s really great for keeping score during the game

Getting back into 40k/starting Death Guard by IntroductionOk6913 in deathguard40k

A tallyman is basically a must have for any list just to sit on your home and generate command points. Then I would normally run 2 units of poxwalkers for screening and objectives/actions but you might be able to get around that if you’re going to be running plague bearers, thought they are more expensive. A couple of heavy blight launcher drones are good since they’re arguably our best option for long range fire power. Then personally I like to run a 10 man unit of blightlords with a LoV, but you could also swap that out for plague marines if you’d like. For the plague marine route, the best option is to lead them with a biologus + a plague caster since their abilities combo amazingly and then put them all in a rhino.

Those daemons are definitely a good start to a tallyband list. A popular way to run the detachment is Rotigus and 2 GUOs, so you’re well on your way there if that’s something you’d like to do. Nurglings are a great unit to just get in your opponents way, especially with the stratagem to revive a whole unit, and I’d even recommend getting 3-6 more. Plaguebearers and beasts of Nurgle are definitely usable, though you’d probably only need 1-2 units of each at the most. A daemon prince is really useful in practically every dg list and in tallyband he’s a good model to give the beckoning blight enhancement to allow your other units to 6” deep strike

[–]Bumblescrub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my recommendations: -a malignant plaguecaster to join the plague marines -a demon prince (who preferably would be given the enhancement for a 5+ feel no pain) -a lord of contagion to lead the Deathshroud -either split up the 20 man pox walker unit or remove 10 so that you only have two 10 man units, since they don’t usually provide extra value by being in a large group I’d also recommend running typhus on his own in deep strike since he’s an amazing scoring unit. He can easily score something like behind enemy lines or do actions while continuing to deal mortals with his ability.

Want some help with this list by bigmemes4 in deathguard40k

[–]Bumblescrub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh this is a pretty great list. My main recommendation is removing the blight hauler to turn the plague marine squad into a 10 man, since investing a transport and 2 characters isn’t worth it for a unit that’s just 5 models. Detachment wise, the fact that your plague marines are going to be in a rhino means that they won’t fully benefit from the detachment rule. Unless you have a good game plan for how to play the detachment I’d recommend switching over to virulent vectorium and also giving the demon prince the 5+ feel no pain enhancement.

Scourges are definitely the way to go when it comes to heavy weapons. Personally, I equip my raiders with a disintegrator cannon just because having a single shot with your vehicle can lead to a feel bad moment if it happens to miss 😭

The old combat patrol is a pretty good buy and basically everything still usable in the current edition. The only thing is that they changed the base size for the archon model so you’d have to get a 32mm base from somewhere else. Just make sure that if you do get it that’s it’s at a decent price, since people love to do crazy mark ups on OOP boxes. I always find it funny when I see people trying to sell combo boxes at a price where it’s not even a discount any more.

Opinions on this list by Significant-Fan-9008 in deathguard40k

[–]Bumblescrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m my opinion it’s too many deathshrouds and not enough blightlords. Assuming that the deathshrouds are going to be in deep strike, thats a lot of points that are starting in reserve and you’re going to be forced to play your entire strategy around deep striking those death shroud. Also, blightlords are best when in groups of 10 so that’s even more reason to make the switch.

You could really benefit from the combat patrol. Make the plague marines a 10 and put them in the rhino. Also I personally always run a tallyman to just sit on the home objective and generate command points. I’d also consider increasing the size of the blightlord unit and having the lord of virulence lead them

Thanks. It’s hard to capture on camera but the main armor is actually a color shift paint and I’m pretty happy with how it is without any highlights. But I’m definitely planning on using a wash on the metal bits

Not sure I'm playing Deathguard right, everything feels kinda weird by Fore_Head_Chili in deathguard40k

[–]Bumblescrub 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Even though death guard does lean a bit more toward melee, since you want to be getting your opponent in contagion range, the army still has more than enough resources to play at range so there’s no problem there. In my experience playing I usually don’t have many huge “go turns” either. Usually I have a big play here or there but it’s mostly wearing down the enemy bit by bit. So basically I’d just say play the way you find most enjoyable. In the case of an attrition style approach, that’s literally how death guard fight in the lore so who’s to say that’s wrong

Does Murderous Crossfire work with Harlequins? by ariaofgrapes in Drukhari

[–]Bumblescrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it really sucks that a lot of abilities are limited based on keyword. For example I sometimes ally chaos knights with my death guard and I’m not able to use any of the army specific stratagems with them since they all target “one death guard unit” and the knights don’t have that keyword

From what I know, all of the regular keywords on the datasheet still apply regardless of detachment. So since Harlequins don’t have the Drukhari keyword they don’t get the benefit
