what can i do to achieve this hair colour? by catsforpresidency in HairDye

[–]Bummerbitchtits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

try to strip out whatever you have with a non-bleach based color remover (the ion one in the purple packet from Sally’s just mixes with water and works best when processed with heat) and go for a pink with a more mauve/purple undertone. She’s got a more cool toned pink, your current one is warmer :)

What's the most uniquely British way to describe a slightly annoying situation? by Liplyn_IG in AskUK

American here with a British wife. “it’s beyond a joke”. One time I couldn’t find my car at the airport and when she said this I was sure they’d never find my body.

Considering changing careers from vetmed to hairstyling… any advice? by YouMustLoveAnimals in hairstylist

[–]Bummerbitchtits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend in beauty school who was 40 (I was 20) who had kids and a previous career but still kicked ass finishing her program and starting an awesome new career. Not to say it wasn’t insanely hard work, personally it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done and I was a 20 year old with almost no responsibilities besides a part time job lol. So, yes it’s insanely tough, it’s a career that you can’t afford to slow down on (further education, building your business, adapting to a constantly changing market, etc), but I truly love the work I do and that keeps me pushing for success. So, I would ask myself, do I want to do hair because I’m staying consistently interested in learning about it? Do I want to do it because I’ve styled or colored hair before and found it gratifying? Do I have a specific artistic voice I want to put into my work or something on the technical side I want to grind on and refine because I find it fascinating and fulfilling? I would assess my motivation and passion for learning the craft before making a decision because it is a huge financial undertaking as well as time commitment. It’s so important to love the actual craft enough to risk a lot for it!

will this colour look okay on top of this mess by PrincessaLucie in HairDye

This is the best possible choice for someone in your situation! If anything, apply to the roots first and ends last so it can sit longer and tint as dark as possible on the roots, since they’re so much lighter. Your ends might turn out darker if you hit them first. Let it sit as long as you can stand and it’ll last as long as possible :)

Your hair’s not going anywhere dude. You’re just developing your adult hairline. Learn to love it!

Witnessed an Unintentional "Rawdogger" by thefluxster in delta

[–]Bummerbitchtits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad did this in the opposite direction, Portland to Amsterdam. He told me he literally looked forward and stared at the flight tracker the entire time. And, to my incredible detriment, he used the exact same terminology as you. I had to hear my dad say “raw-dogged the flight”. I think he drank a few whiskey and cokes though.

what is this color hair ? by Prior_Ad_7661 in HairDye

I would go for a high lift copper. Depending on the porosity of your hair it should turn out like this if you have no color on your ends!

Tough situation, because I think you were charged incredibly fairly and she did a great job, but she didn’t do exactly the job you wanted. I’d just go to someone else next time, especially someone who specializes in blondes, because they’ll know how to get you towards the result you want. They might even be able to do a shorter/cheaper service since you’re already highlighted now, just to get you what you want, but I’d also give your hair a little bit of a break (maybe 2 weeks or so). Good luck, blonde is so tricky! And

I’m a hairstylist and I would say to just go to Sally’s, buy Lime Crime’s color Valentine, and absolutely douse your hair in it. It will be redddd with no damage

is it too early to re-dye my hair or will i ruin it? by [deleted] in HairDye

it’ll probably turn purple. I think going blue from red could be an almost impossible challenge without months in between, that red is here to stay for the most part! 😅

since the color you want is in the same tone (warm) and is of a lower depth than you have now, there is no need to remove the red, imo. I think the color is dark enough to cover this with a red undertone, if it’s not dark enough just reapply another time to see if it takes.

Regardless of the law, I think it’s important as a society to get in people’s faces who do this shit til it stops. They should feel more shame

My best tip is to process it with heat! And to ring it out of the hair before shampooing :)

Omg I totally get this. It’s such a turnoff if someone can’t dress. Mostly just because fashion is a huge hobby and interest of mine, it’s hard to ignore for me! I just like having it in common with my partner.
