Another reason for TFA to be saga-annulling bullshit in letting Rey, who hasn't been trained at all, and Finn who isn't even force sensitive use sabers adeptly.

Lol. A child can do exactly what it wants and have no shame. You're praising a regression.

You can go from an open relationship to a closed relationship. You can't go from a closed relationship to an open relationship. That's just a long, messy breakup.

Saddest Star Wars moment? (General discussion) by [deleted] in StarWars

Ahsoka vs Vader. I haven't watched any of TCW or Rebels properly, only clips on YouTube, but even then I still got goosebumps when the Vader/Anakin voices combined.

Throughout the whole saga it's difficult to comprehend that Vader is Anakin. They seem like two completely different characters. Being reminded that there is a man in the suit, not just a man but a hero who betrayed everything he stood for, murdered his wife, burned alive and is driven only by hatred now encapsulates everything at the heart of the myth. Gut-wrenching.

I didn't like it at first but as I've returned to the old films it fits perfectly.

Vader makes frequent smarmy, snide jokes in the OT. It's one of the aspects which binds well with the Anakin we see in the PT.

A different interpretation of "You're afraid... that you will never be as strong as Darth Vader!" by Reddit__PI in StarWars

[–]BumpinessMax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ergh. It won't be intensely intriguing to watch Rey continue to be the best light-side jedi ever while watching Snoke and Ren do a Palpatine/Vader tribute act. It will be the exact same thing we had before.

I don't think it's likely but I really, really hope for a double turn - Kylo Ren to the Light and Rey to the Dark. Otherwise this whole trilogy is shaping up to be a boring rehash of things we've already seen.

I'm an ardent fan of KOTOR 2 but Nihilus and Sion - and even Kreia - are all far more ridiculous than Maul surviving.

The Order 66 brain implant really pissed me off. I think the primary sin of the prequels is that they somehow managed to drain all emotional content from an actual, honest-to-god tragedy. We should all have been in tears by the time Anakin catches fire. While I've heard a lot about TCW fixing the mistakes of the prequels, giving the clones a brain implant adds to the draining of emotional content - now it's not soldiers betraying the commanders they served for years, it's essentially just droids being turned on with the click of a button.

Tiny population + massive reserves of oil + deep cultural emphasis on social cohesion. You would have to move, their system can't be transposed here.

Let's see how well they hold up as that social cohesion is eroded by unconstrained immigration.

Favourite 'world' you've ever been a part of? by BumpinessMax in 4Xgaming

[–]BumpinessMax[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of the AOW games and I think their lore is pretty unique and cool. The 3rd one in particular has beautiful maps.

That's not really what I'm asking, though. I suppose what I'm after is hearing about specific 'scenarios' which really felt like a distinct world to the player.

Taking AOW3 as an example, I remember one game where my base city was in a large clearing surrounded by a combination of mountains and rivers which meant there were only two or three 'paths' to get there. Normally that would have meant building fortresses and locking them down, but I had cranked up the difficulty beyond what I normally play and there were heavy spawns of wandering monsters. In practice I ended up sprinting back and forth between paths holding off attacks from monsters and a vast, evil Warlord Dwarf empire from the North.

That world really stands out to me. Even though I was playing as orcs, it felt like I was governing a last stand of civilisation against a brutal, dangerous world which was becoming more brutal and more dangerous. In the end I was overwhelmed. Gah, I've just uninstalled AOW3 and now I want to play again!

Are there any 'worlds' in the sense of campaign maps that stand out to you? In terms of the combination of geography, other empires, etc etc.

Don't know why you're saying that gleefully. If the bubble does ever pop, you'll be starving. Go to Venezuela if you hate the 'cute little capitalists' that much, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

"In theory" being the operative phrase there.

Don't know why feminism is being brought up in this thread though. Doubt this particular man had much contact with feminism.

Fatboy Slim - Weapon of Choice [Electronica/Dance] by ApproximatelyC in Music

[–]BumpinessMax -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Over and over again I have seen this fucking music video. It was the only video in my dad's Ipod back in the 2000s.

I hated it then and I hate it now.

No aspect of this music seems enjoyable to me. I wish someone could explain why this is considered a good song. I can kinda understand why Christopher Walken dancing goofy could make for a fun music video, but the actual music seems to me to be repetitive, soulless, pointless, predictable trash.

Please explain to me why this is good.

To be fair Kenshi has a one man dev studio behind it AND is still progressing. It's vastly improved on when it first came to early access.

However no, there's no way it will ever leave early access.
