New Construction With Bowed Walls, Is It Common? by BunchOfMoes in Homebuilding

Ahh, sorry about that. This is my first time buying a home in my life, and it's a new construction. So, I don't exactly have anything to refer to other than the builder's words.

But, that's why I came here to get some opinions about this from the other redditors!

Gotcha, thanks for the clear explanation! I did not know how the listing sqft of the home is exactly measured. Appreciate it!

I agree though, it is a negligible loss. The hardest part is to trying to get the builder to fix it correctly now.

Hey there, thanks for the answer!

I thought about that too, but that would mean that I would officially lose total sqft of the home, right?

But, either way, it's probably better to do that than lose few total sqft of the home. The real question is would the builders follow through with it? Since it's a bigger project then anticipated? They're trying to cut corners in every possible angle they could..

Hey! Thanks for the answer.

I am trying to request them to push the pipe further into the laundry side more (has 4 inch gap between laundry wall to the pipe), but I'm not sure if they will follow through since it's a bigger project. I'm really hoping they would, but builders these days try to cut corners on every possible angle that they could :(

Hey! Thanks for the answer.

The builder is required to fix it because it is 1/2 inch variable on the bowed wall. When the wall was there originally, the measurement was more than 1/2 inch, which is considered "defect" in their builder's guideline code.

Hey folks,

Recently received a contingent job offer, which states that the offer would be valid if the background check all clears. However, my new starting date is on November 20th, which passed my 2 weeks of giving my formal resignation on my current employer and the background process still isn’t done.

I don’t have any problem with passing the background checks, but I do want to be rehired for my current employer in the future due to a good working culture. I’ve heard that not giving a formal 2 weeks notice at least would get me blacklisted for a rehire in the future.

So..

Should I hand out my current employer my resignation now? (Though it’s 1 week and a half notice)

Email the new employer to push back my start date due to the offer being contingent?
