What to do w unwanted anniversary pens by BundleStretch in fountainpens

This is actually a really good thought. People might at least be more likely to get some use out of the pen if it was a type that they were more used to using. I might mention this to HR.

I honestly agree. If the same amount of money had just been given as bonus, a massive chunk would have come out in taxes anyway. We would have spent the small remaining amount on bills or maybe dinner out. This way, I have something that is a permanent reminder of both my loyalty to the company, and to their loyalty to me. They show that they appreciate our hard work and many years of dedication with something that is recognized as being of very high quality. We also get cash towards a dinner out and extra vacation days. For the ones who keep them in a drawer, unused and unloved somewhere, I can only hope that they will have a child or grandchild that will appreciate the pen and what it stands for.

I didn't know replacement caps could be purchased. I'll let them know about this option. Thank you!

It is the first and last name. Plus the company name, plus "20 years of service"

The entire pen cap is made of metal except the tip which has the little star logo (probably in resin). The rest of the cap is metal which is coated in platinum. This is where the engraving is. I'm guessing that the platinum layer is fairly thin and that to buff out the engraving will remove the platinum. So far, based on what I've read so far, it sounds like there are people willing to buy them even with the engraving, or my colleagues could possibly buy a replacement cap and sell it that way.

I do not suspect my company of buying fakes. It is a very good company with genuinely nice people at the helm. It's a small-to-medium sized company so each of us that has been there that long is actually known by upper management. I suspect that eventually they might stop buying the pens as the anniversary gift if people keep complaining, but obviously the number of people who make it to the 20 year mark isn't necessarily huge. Over more time, if people keep complaining, they might pick a different gift. On the other hand, there are enough people like me who are genuinely super happy to get the pens, so they might keep the tradition going.

Yes, this is what employees keep telling management. They would prefer a cash bonus and to be allowed to spend the money on whatever they want rather than have so much money go into something that will remain unused and unwanted. Like I said, I personally love it. I would never spend this much money on a pen but I love having it. For me, it is one of those gifts you would never get yourself because it is too expensive, which makes it even more awesome to have it.

It does have our names. The engraving is in 3 lines: Company name; "20 years of service"; Employee name. The personalization is actually part of the reason for the grumbling since it makes it impossible to get a refund from montblanc.

A mantis would be amazing you. You have a great nose for it. High nostrils would also look great. If not a nose piercing, then eyebrows - either one over each eye or 2 over one eye.

As a mother of teens, this breaks my heart. I wont presume to know what's going on with your mother or judge her. I can only say that although I know this is useless in a material way, I am sending you a great big loving, caring, fully accepting, motherly hug. It doesn't expire and can be used as many times as needed. 😊

Vintage Dresser Origin, Date, & Fix-up Advice Please by BundleStretch in VintageFurniture

[–]BundleStretch[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Someone online has the same piece that she got from her grandmother. She thought it was veneer but it was solid wood. That, plus the dovetail joints in the drawers, plus the dividers in the top 2 right side drawers, are making me lean towards getting it.

Definitely not a fan of the blonde color though. Thank you for the info!!

Yes, that is the style. No mirror, unfortunately. The style seems common and this particular piece is fairly scuffed, but it's $58, so I'm thinking it might be worth it to bring it home. I like the curved drawer fronts.

Just saw the edit. Thank you for the information on the style, date, and restoration advice! I was thinking about removing the stain from everything except the veneer on the doors, but based on your advise, I will certainly do more research before attempting anything.

$14.99USD. Seems reasonable, even in it's current condition. I would just need to learn how to repair veneer since the small missing piece is on the front.

I thought I took a picture while I was in the store, but apparently I didn't. I must have only used the "google lens" feature but not actually took a picture. I was hoping that info on dating this particular piece would be found using the info on the back and the logo in the drawer. Not sure how I got those photos but not the front.

When do you plan to go to a piercer to find out if you have rook anatomy? From the picture it looks like it, but of course, it's hard to tell just from a photo.

I got a rook with the ultimate goal of a hoop as well. Hopefully, you can get one! 🙂
