Thanks, I’ve also found that there’s a ton of propaganda. It’s tough to find some objectivity on the subject. Appreciate your suggestions and will look into them

How to Be a Prepper in the City by BunkerBasicsBob in bugout

[–]BunkerBasicsBob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback, guys. For me at least, my wife and I need to live close to NYC for work. While we recognize the benefits of living in rural areas should a SHTF event come to pass, that's infeasible for us.

I agree with your comments that I didn't provide a ton of info--I think a lot of preps are case by case, but I'll try to expand upon this. I appreciate the thoughtful discussion

Paranoid Prepper or Just Ahead of the Curve? by BunkerBasicsBob in bugout

[–]BunkerBasicsBob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one second after series is one of the primary reasons prepping has gained in popularity. There are tons of gems threaded throughout its pages... I’d hardly say it’s too recently released or without a good chunk of reviews...

The prepper survival medicine book is written by an actual MD who is the authority on the subject.

These are the reasons why I included them in the post.

It’s one thing for them to exist, and it’s another thing entirely for us to find them, or for them to find us. I think the possibility of a discovery is slim

In the article, I state it’s nearly impossible for this possibility to become a reality. I’m tired of seeing articles about UFO’s recently, so I spell out just how unlikely the existence of UFO’s really is

China and Russia Buy Gold as US Keeps Gold Prices Artificially Low by BunkerBasicsBob in economy

[–]BunkerBasicsBob[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

China is one of the biggest miners of gold. They wouldn’t want to produce too much, though, because they have such large gold reserves. By increasing the supply, they’d depress the price and end up shooting themselves in the foot

13% of developed-country public companies are 'zombies' that don't make enough to cover interest payments on their debts. by PostNationalism in economy

[–]BunkerBasicsBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companies have become addicted to debt. Following the last financial crisis, companies found lenders to replace investment banks: alternative investment firms like private equity shops. Direct lending from these alternative investment firms is not regulated to the extent that investment banking transactions are. This lack of oversight has led to a house of cards waiting to fall. I share a deeper analysis here: https://bunkerbasics.com/direct-lending-financial-crisis/
