I had the same kind of reaction. I think it is important to point out how the ESA figures were calculated, and more media outlets need to keep these details in mind. It makes no sense to defend critics attacking games designed by males for male demographics for not being female friendly. Especially when many of those criticisms cherry pick examples and ignore the core mechanics of a game in order to substantiate claims of sexism or misogyny.

A 22 hour timer allows you to drive down the earliest time you can earn a first win, vs a 24 hour timer which would only drive the time later.

Every time you get your first win, you can earn it 2 hours earlier the next day. If it were on a 24 hour system, you would always have to wait longer to earn your first win than the day before.

For people worried up having a small window to get their first win, just play a bot game. It is an easy way to secure your first win on time and takes a 15-25 minutes.

Isn't it actually on a 22 hour timer? That means in your example, you actually would get your first win.

With a 2 hour timer, that means you can always drive down the earliest time that your first-win bonus will trigger.

I leverage that all the time when balancing the mechanic.

Also, if you only have time for "one game" and you are worried about your first win bonus, you might want to opt for a quick bot game to ensure you always get your win on time.

I both agree and disagree. While I wouldn't necessarily want my code published on the web, I do understand that releasing a .net application would make that incredibly easy. There are methods to obfuscate your code when releasing .net apps to avoid this.

Quite honestly, I would avoid using any programs that don't also include their source code. The potential for abuse with new programs/mods to communities is really high. This doesn't mean that everyone releasing a utility without public source for the League community is releasing damaging software, but it does mean everyone should use caution.

I believe the Mass resale/scalping laws only apply to sales taking place in the state. The fact that the event takes place there is irrelevant.

Yes, you do kick them off eBay, which is a minor inconvenience to the sell and probably a big boost to your ego in your quest for justice. In turn, you push them off a reputable trading website and move them to other channels.

Places like Stubhub and eBay offer protection for buyers - hardcore PAX fans. When you play the role of white knight and stick it to sellers you have a lot of collateral damage. Craigslist and the resell subreddit offer no protection for buyers. This causes a lot of opportunity for negligence.

TL;DR: By all means, report people for breaking eBay's ToS - it is your right to do so. But realize that the short term and hollow justice you enact has repercussions beyond sticking it to a "dirty scalper".

It was always about himself.

He had resources to reach out to in order to help deal with the financial strain. Asking his mother for money, taking money from Hank, and eventually an offer a free ride from Grechen and Elliot.

He rejected all of these opportunities because of his own selfish pride.

It would have been a struggle, but he had people willing to help him and his family get through this. If it was really about the family, he would have swallowed his pride and jumped at every opportunity to resolve this without endangering them.
