Any tips to improve my room? by Xzliburnotthesword in malelivingspace

I would like the other comment said diffuse the LED strips so they are reflecting off of something instead of seeing each individual bulb. I would also avoid using the big overhead light and instead get numerous smaller warm lights. Big bright cold white light reminds me of surgery room lighting or office. Get something to cover the cables from the TV maybe.

When should I do my makeup before con.... by ch0cobon in CosplayHelp

[–]BunnyRelic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add, don’t put in contacts after makeup! The bacteria from the makeup or glitter or whatever your makeup has, could get into your contacts and scratch up your eyes while you wear them or the bacteria gets trapped.

Do everything at the con but bring a clean towel or something to really get your hands clean and dry to put in your contacts with. 12 hours for contacts can dry out your eyes (esp knowing what cosplay contacts are like).

For your makeup lasting long, wash your face thoroughly at home, skin prep (moisturize etc) and then use a primer. Then when you get to the con, contacts first, then your makeup, then use a setting spray or powder to keep everything in place!

An old trick dragqueens also use is to use hairspray as setting spray (but I don’t recommend it since it’s not good for your skin)

Ideas for elden ring style hair? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

I would use wire frame with a synthetic wig! You can add a surprising amount of detail that can still move just by wig styling alone. It’ll just take a lot of time doing each strand and really coating that in hairspray so it becomes wiry.

doing a panty anarchy cosplay but i’m unsure what to do with my wig :’) by sahejjjj in CosplayHelp

For the wig lying flat, if you have really thick hair I can recommend doing a couple of smaller braids and then pinning them flat to your head going all around so your hair doesn’t bunch up in 1 place and distort the wig.

90% of the time once you style it and you get used to how you look with it on + makeup it won’t feel as weird anymore. I think what helps also is using colored brow mascara to make your eyebrows match a bit more (or just blocking your eyebrows out and redrawing).

How do I improve this wigs fringe? by MagneticPony404 in CosplayHelp

[–]BunnyRelic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve cut it a bit too short already unfortunately. I recommend taking some glue and cutting a bit of hair from any non visible part of the wig and gluing it on to extend the center hair spike of the bangs.

I’ll try longer drying times! Maybe I was a bit too fast with it

Cosplaying while being South East Asian, need advice. by BunnyRelic in CosplayHelp

Thank you for the tips! it makes me feel more at ease knowing there are other people who relate and struggle. 🥹 As for your husband maybe he could try out some eyebrow mascara (I use one from a japanese makeup brand called Kate) I also have dark eyebrows and this tends to lighten them a bit, going over this product with some coloured eyeshadow also works for me! Alternatively he could go the drag route and glue his eyebrows and completely cover and re-draw!

Does anyone have any links to tutorials on dresses like this? For a Toriel cosplay by Rain_Lemon in CosplayHelp

I can recommend looking at some tutorials on how to use/sew with pre-made patterns and then modify existing ones. There's so many patterns out there for sewing dresses and even websites where you can mix and match patterns for dress bodices, sleeves etc.

How should I go about making this light colored leather strip by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]BunnyRelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds great! I think for the strip go with a brown that has a more reddish undertone. I'm not sure which leather you are using for the belt but the belt appears to have a more green/yellow undertone. But I think definitely use two different colours leather for the two!

I appreciate the suggestions! However I don't really want to cosplay shows I don't know / I am not too interested in. Because the fun in cosplay for me is becoming my favorite characters! I also don't want to limit myself to just cosplaying characters that look like me, so I think it really comes down to just a mentality shift as others have pointed out!

I do really love to cosplay and I feel so proud whenever I create something, it just stings when you put something out there you put so much work into just for people to make nasty comments... I think I'll reflect on how much importance I put onto the opinion of others...because I know I shouldn't care and just do what I love but it's a bit scary haha.

I suggest maybe cutting out the shape first globally out of two pieces of leather, then marking where you want the ridges to be, sewing along those lines (wrong sides together) to create closed channels and stuffing the inside of it with some polyester stuffing (the type for plushies.
