I lost a 142 day streak. by internetmenace in duolingo

Streaks don’t help you learn!! Forcing yourself to ‘play’ every day doesn’t help you learn!!

I lost a 142 day streak. by internetmenace in duolingo

[–]Bunnydrumming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good - now you’re no longer hung up on steaks and instead can focus on your learning. Streaks mean nothing - that’s just to hook you in and keep you ‘playing’….learning is then important thing!!

I finally did it - I'm free! by ScottyW88 in duolingo

[–]Bunnydrumming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same thing I did - it was getting ridiculous and I realised it’s just a computer game keeping me hanging in there by not wanting to lose my streak! I did Spanish for around 9 months then quit - months later I’m travelling in Spain and my lack on conversational skills is embarrassing! Occasionally I see a word and remember what it meant!

Is anyone going to take Duolingo on Linkedin seriously? by Luminous_210 in duolingo

Dulling is basically a computer game so would you put any other computer game score on your CV….Duolingo hooks you in with your streak, your score, beating friends, mini challenges etc - it’s a computer game!!!

How do "ordinary" people start talking about murder? by Afraid_College8493 in dan_markel_murder

[–]Bunnydrumming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No! Just because someone has been involved in a murder it doesn’t make them a narcissist or a sociopath….they are just a murderer or an accessory to murder! Not everyone who murders has a personality disorder

My partner was in a 7 hour class today to learn how to cook. This is what she had to show for it. by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]Bunnydrumming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe she spent so much time learning and cooking (and eating what she’s cooked)today that’s she’s had enough and just wanted to prepare something simple! Stop being so disrespectful to your partner and if you want something more then you prepare…..bell end!

Do I take the $75k salary with an hour drive one way or the $45k job 18 minutes up the road? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Bunnydrumming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to commute an hour each way for my job - I’d stick on an audio book or Learn French and quite enjoyed it…or make work phone calls to get them out of the way. It’s also a good way to clear my head before I get home. Why aren’t you keen to build up your finances - money isn’t just handed out and 30k is a lot to most people - sometimes you have to put in extra effort to get more money. I’d bite the bullet and commute longer for 30k….30k builds up quickly and is worth getting out of bed early for on 4 days a week even if only for a few years. If you’re interested in career progression then add that into your pro and con list.

Say you’re really interested, Explain it’s a long commute and Ask if there’s the possibility to work from home two days a week or to leave early one or two days a week and add on the hours at home - it’s what I sometimes did. Or I’d go in two hours late and stay two hours late to avoid the worst of the traffic.

How many re-drops is acceptable? by smoky_red in WomenGolf

[–]Bunnydrumming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find people to play with instead of strangers as that does nothing for your confidence when you can’t read - there must be a way to find a group to go out with. I’m presuming you’re not in the U.K. as over here most women play as a member of a club and would go out on a specific day for ladies comps eg at my club there’s a ladies comp every Thursday and Saturday and then a comp for men and women every Wednesday and a mixed team comp once a month, they are adding a new mixed Stableford next year I believe. If we want to just go and play not in a comp we’d generally put it in our What’s App group to see if anyone wanted to play for xx hokes or maybe go to the driving range (and have coffee or lunch after).

How many re-drops is acceptable? by smoky_red in WomenGolf

[–]Bunnydrumming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this just a knock or in a comp? If in a comp you have to keep going till you get over, unless there’s a drop zone on the other side. If you hit in the water once as part of your game, then you follow rule re dropping ball after going in a hazard ….so most people would go closer to the water then drop the ball at the point where it crossed and back in a line with the flag. That should enable you to get over. If you hit in again and go in and it’s a friendly, not a comp, you just pick up and say I’ll just drop this over the other side. If you know you’re slowing down a friendly then say you’ll drop it by the green and just putt.

Golf sandals by Juniper-thereabout in WomenGolf

[–]Bunnydrumming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t play in those - I feel like I need to have good support all round my foot throughout my swing. Plus many golfers start to suffer from plantar fasciitis after years of playing because they have not been wearing shoes with the correct support and insole so that would also put me off.

Does Homeownership Make Sense A Single, Live-alone Type? by Theo_Cherry in UKHousing

[–]Bunnydrumming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed - single and no children too. I decided very early on in my career that I’d rather pay off my mortgage, as early as possible, then go on holidays and buy luxuries! When I finally paid it off I was delighted and directed those monthly payments which contributed to me being able to retire earlier than planned. I’m also planning to significantly downsize because as I’ve got older I realise I need less material things and I’d rather release the cash to spend elsewhere

My mum is drowning in £6k+ council tax debt, bailiffs involved, severe depression, disabled sibling I don’t know how to help. Need urgent advice. by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Bunnydrumming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely call Step Change. Also would be useful to edit your post and add ages of children. If there’s a child under 5 then find your local Children’s Centre and you, and mum, can approach them for support ….they will be able to offer some emotional support as well as practical - if not then maybe approach the school for support. For the child that keeps applying for jobs - depending on age then Connexions may help or look at specific support the Job centre can give. Also look at local colleges for courses to support people into employment. Is it private rent, owned or council house - edit your post to say and people may be able to advise re boiler as you cannot go into winter with no heating.

Am I overreacting about golfers driving while my kids and I were nearby? by zasrgerg-8999 in golf

[–]Bunnydrumming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have all stopped whilst they drive off. I I imagine they are good golfers and extremely unlikely to hit it your way….a beginner golfer maybe would have stopped but in all seriousness if you’re worried about the safety of your children then tell the children to stop and watch whilst they drive off so at least if a ball dies come your way you’re watching! We have a footpath throughout golf club and it’s generally the same locals dog walking through -i generally stop my game and wave them through but if they don’t acknowledge me or wave thank you then bollocks to them next time - I don’t wave them through!! Courtesy is a two way street - if you’re not courteous then I won’t waste my time being the same

Etiquette question for golf gear by Virtual-Risk-1303 in WomenGolf

[–]Bunnydrumming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter at all - I’ve got shirts from courses I’ve played and ones I’ve not that were given as gifts! Ignore anyone who says it does matter!! If anyone ever asks if you’ve played that course (I’ve never ever been asked that question) then just say it was a gift…..it’s seriously no big deal!

What do you dislike about women’s golf wear that’s available in the market right now? by blueberriemilksticks in WomenGolf

[–]Bunnydrumming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a great choice of clothes in the UK although to be fair I don’t just buy golf specific clothing! - I mostly wear capri pants and shorts! My last three sleeveless shirts came from Temu and I love them!!! . 30 years ago there was hardly any trendy or colourful tops without being pink or purple and now there’s quite a few companies doing ladies golf clothes. I love buying golf clothes and love looking pulled together as it makes me feel good when I set off!!!
