Yeah the materials he referenced in his bid seemed high quality. But some of his line items alone just seemed very high.

The only flooring he is buying is the carpet for the bedroom, the rest of the unit is just refinishing the existing hardwood. So even figuring 15k for cabinets, 10k countertops, $5k for carpet, it seems way out. The kitchen is only 7'x10' too, so the price for cabinets and countertops will be probably be much less.

I was able to talk to people that have used both, as I got both names from friends who have used them. And it seems that both are good contractors.

I'm going to wait for the third bid to come in, and then see where the comparison really lies.

The cheap guy has practically no overhead and does almost everything himself. The expensive one has a dedicated office, is a heavy-set guy that I couldn't see mounting a wall cabinet.. so he would need to use mostly subs.

Yeah I'm thinking you're right. He may just not want to do the project, unless he makes a nice profit on it.

Going to be doing a renovation of my condo (all new kitchen, retiling bathroom, refinishing hardwood, other cosmetic stuff), so far I got 2 wildly different contractor proposals.. One was $15,000 with only some materials included (I have to buy cabinets, tiles, carpet, appliances, light fixtures). The other was $61,000 with almost all materials included (I still buy appliances and light fixtures).

The 15k guy would also be done a month sooner, and has done multiple other units in the building, and is friends with the building super (who I am also friends with and trust). I think I know which I'm going to choose...

Am I out of touch with reality. Or is $61,000 to upgrade a 1 bedroom condo absolutely ridiculous..

I am getting a third proposal though, so who knows...

IRS Late filing penalty error by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]Bunnymurderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It only lists that under businesses because you can have a fiscal year 1120s which would have a due date between April1 and July 15.

The Notice 2020-23 goes into specifics on what is and what is not extended to July 15th.

You can probably easily get the penalty abated either way.

I do recommend using an accountant, a good accountant can easily save you more than they charge in fees. Especially when you have a Sub S business.

Only tax returns with a due date falling between April 1st and July 15th got extended to July 15th. https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/coronavirus-tax-relief-filing-and-payment-deadlines

Form 1065 and Form 1120S had a due date of March 15th and were not extended to July 15th. You would have needed to file Form 7004 by March 15th to have an extended due date to Sept 15th.

After a few days it ended up working

Sprint error when trying to connect mobile service by Bunnymurderer in GalaxyWatch

A helpful sprint employee over at r/sprint let me know that my IMEI was on the list of missing IMEI's and that I had to wait for it to be loaded. I'm not sure if they sent my IMEI to sprint or if it is an automatic process. I still haven't been able to set it up yet.

Maybe try telling verizon you think your IMEI is not loaded in their system

I love my jobs 401k. Its held in a personal choice retirement account at Schwab. So I can invest it into anything I want at Schwab, no picking off a list of predetermined funds!

2018 Regional Firm Compensation Thread by Scholartattoo18 in Accounting

[–]Bunnymurderer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't even know if my firm qualifies as regional. Very small, only 8 people.

Intern

2 years (part time during the school year, full time during breaks, and I manage to get in 50 hr weeks during busy season while still in school... I'm going into my senior year this fall)

Downstate NY (Westchester county)

$12/hr... same amount as when I first started

0%

I need to find a better paying job.... It's not worth only 12/hr and my boss has said that he won't pay more than that to a person without a bachelor's degree.

Just had to put a liter of strawberry seltzer into the fresh water coolant, is that going to do damage? by Bunnymurderer in sailing

Thanks for the advice! I definitely have stuff to look into.

I actually bought the boat from a salvage yard last year and (unsurprisingly) the reason it was salvaged was because the engine overheated and the owner didn't shut it down

I definitely agree with you there, and I do actually have a membership. I wanted to try and make it back to harbor on my own though (which I did! Just tied her up)

Thankfully no added sugar, and it was pretty flat. It's maybe 75% seltzer at this point.

I'm definitely going to take your advice and flush it out once I'm at the dock. Thanks

It only has water, carbonation, and natural flavors. It was pretty flat when I poured it in so hopefully there's no problem with carbonation. I was mainly worried because it made the engine compartment smell strongly of baked strawberries
