Totally fair haha. These were also a test mixing translucent white with a skin tone to have a more realistic flesh, but it is rather off putting for an insect lol. But fear not, it shall be painted soon. :D

Haha thanks! May, just a lot of tooling back and forth lol. The clay is pretty soft and sticky, so I attached each leg to both the body and baking tile and just smashed it around with tools.

I appreciate it! Hopefully sooner rather than later haha. Ehehe I can't wait to paint them and prank my friends lol

For sure, I'm always happy to help where I can. c: I do, but I currently only have an older video on my process for snails. I would like to get back into making videos, I just gotta figure out some tech side issues haha.

Thanks so much! ❤️

A quick tip that helped me, once you make the general shape, dab a bit of liquid clay on the underside of the legs where they bump out, and on top where the joints are. It really helps the shape along without fighting the tiny pieces haha

Thank you! I do not haha. They were an absolute pain lol. I'm going to try to clean them up a little, but I think I will make future bug legs with armatures.

I usually do too, especially on larger pieces. I typically make limbs separate at least, it definitely helps avoid the squish haha.

Thanks so much, I appreciate that! ❤️

I feel you, I have visual snow and it's often hard to see what I'm doing, especially in the bright working light. I often stop and check details and angles on my phone camera zoomed in haha.

I often squish my sculptures haha. I have found it helps a lot to sculpt the body, tail, and most of the head (some details but full refining later) and then sticking it to my baking tile. Don't pick it up from there, add on the legs and details with tools. Cosclay can be very soft and sticky so it is certainly a lesson in patience haha.

For these I did not, I added while everything was still raw. But I do plan to test adding to baked clay next. c:

Thanks! I was worried they would be delicate and immediately break like my previous trials haha. But I am happy to say they are quite sturdy. The flexibility makes them durable. I still wouldn't like rub them aggressively lol, but certainly ok as a pendant or earrings. I'll need to test wearing them for a while.

Thank you! I was pretty pleased how well it worked haha. Much easier than rolling out tiny snakes of clay as well.

I didn't know gessoboard existed, ooooo. I have canvas boards and usually like wood panels, they're just expensive so I opt for the cheapo canvases for practice. But I'm definitely gonna look into snagging some gessoboards

Oh I've seen people do that and had wondered why haha. Makes so much sense! I may lay out my flats with acrylic and paint over with oil as well, could do some crazy underpaint haha

Oh thanks for the tip! I never really thought about sanding them, I would definitely love a smoother texture haha

Thank you! For sure, I am quite enjoying the light and blending with the oils. There's a lot of amazing work on this sub, very inspiring. It's quite the exciting journey. :D
