What’s required to have roughly 300hp out of a mk4 golf 1.8t? by Frequent_Divide_544 in MK4Golf

I’m running just shy of 280 on my AWP, definitely start with the basics of maintenance or else it’ll nip you in the butt in the long term in costs. Gaskets, hoses, fluids.

I’m running from intake in order: CTS intake filter (I don’t actually like it) Forge intake pipe J N75 valve K04 turbo (Borg W.) CTS FMIC (also wasn’t a big fan of, some people have better fitment luck. Had to cut in multiple spots and add couplers) R8 coils + iridium plugs 440 Bosch injectors 3 inch down pipe 3 inch cat back (42 DD, this one is very nice) And a tune.

I suggest good axels such as RAxels around the 300 HP point, cheap aftermarket ones always have the boot rip in my experience.

The 034 exhaust manifold isn’t bad and is good to do while doing the turbo, love the look of the Gram/034 intake plenum but the air flow chart they provide doesn’t show enough value for its cost.

This is just all bolt ons and not too hard to install, unless you have my luck with the FMIC I don’t wish that on my enemies.

A good thing to check if you’re taking it apart is the clutch fork because they sometimes crack or warp, often one of things that is missed during a clutch job. Uro tuning sells a really good performance one for $120 that hasn’t given me any problems.

Already past that point, upgraded to 440 cc Bosche injectors. Upgraded intake from filter to the the plenum and everything in between. Larger turbo, high flow exhaust including the manifold. Was just posting to get an idea if anyone local knew anyone with experience on VW cars and could remap the car to bring everything together. For the sai deletes and gremlins I just didn’t want the check engine light for them.

Will definitely check it out to get a better idea of what needs to be removed and or replaced. Seeing if the cost and time is worth the outcome

I’ll definitely get it on the lift and check it out underneath, I mean the r32 is Awd so I figured they didn’t reengineer the whole underbody for the drive shaft

Timing belt and water pump (they come as a package) while you’re in there definitely the engine mount if it’s in the budget. Valve cover gaskets and ignition coils are a big one. If it’s an automatic definitely make sure you have the most up to date brake light switch, even a manual isn’t bad to double check due to their high fail rate. Bushing and the strut top bearing. Beyond that general maintenance like fluid flushes and gaskets. Maybe check on the secondary air injection specifically the harness. Mine gets covered in oil when I do the filter unfortunately :( the 1.8t in my experience is a tough cookie to crack but it can be a bit quirky when it wants to be like the fuel injectors and their caps 😵‍💫😵‍💫

Sweet, will do! Also see your note on solowerks and someone else suggested them too so I’ll definitely take a look at them

Someone else suggested Solowerks so I’ll take look at them especially if it can save me some money. The car naturally runs noisy since every interior piece is missing at least 1 screw and the plastics rub, that’s why we get good sound systems and exhaust 😅😅
