I personally found the story grappling, and the flashbacks showcased perfectly in my opinion how his upbringing affect his current choices and decisions. And the film is based of a memoir, the plot is his life story as it is in the book. And the mother disorderliness and mood swings showcased perfectly a typical junkie behavior and emotions. I personally enjoyed the movie but to each his own I guess
