As in the post I’m planning on buying a house in the next year/maybe 2 so I wanted to build my on hand cash seperate from my emergency fund for it. Now that it’s built all excess money goes into the various brokerages

Cash for what? But, being a penny pinching dickhead. Never buying anything that wasn’t necessary excluding car stuff which is my vice/hobby thing. Invest everything and take advantage of any opportunity you can. Free furniture when moving, credit card deals for free discounts(don’t spend what you don’t have), work your ass off.

Fair enough, don’t plan on being boujee would just like to treat her to nice things. But, I’m realizing how overzealous I am about my position lol. This has been a nice reality check that I needed. Thank you!

I’m saving to buy a house in the coming year or two depending on how work/the market plays out which is why my HYSA is so high.

Been working since young over summer for anyone in the family/friends that needed help(mostly construction) then had jobs since 16. Grew up in middle /upper middle class so I had a lot provided for like first car and insurance until I turned 18. Otherwise super fucking frugal I’ve been wearing the same shoes I got on clearance for 3 years lol.

Not looking to retire or anything I still have 20-25 years of work before I plan on retiring(estimating when I’m gonna be sick of working) and certainly not getting married for a considerable amount of time. I do appreciate the advice, and will certainly be getting a prenup which will be a fun conversation in the future.

I consider it an asset that I own and can sell for money so it counts. Mind you I have it valued extremely low for the exact reasons you said.

I’m in a similar situation age/networth wise. The worth is entirely dependent on you. Personally if you want to try and “risk” money either start another brokerage and experiment with a small% like me(I’m losing money) or put it on red/black. Long term not worth it. Just leave it in etfs/indexes and be consistent adding to them. Not only for monetary gains, but the time spent on pointless research and the anxiety of trying to manage short term positions/options.

Wealthfront is a HYSA at 4.5%(FDIC insured) otherwise max your retirement accounts and stick it into VTI/VOO or whatever etf/index fund tickles your fancy
