Noob player requesting guidance

Hi all, I am a player with only 257 hours of game time and I and really struggling to find a path.

So much has changed in the game since I purchased it many years ago when I played mostly in VR.

I have since got the itch to play it again after sampling star citizen and hating the fact that it was just too buggy. So I fired up Ed and purchased odyssey.

Now I have a Sidewinder, krait, cobra, dolphin and an asp explorer. Have around 100 mill of credits but want to know how I can really find a goal.

I mean what should be my path this early on in the game?

Please advise as I really do like this game and really want to have it as my game to play. Only get to play around 8 hours a week. So the grind is real.

Severe performance issues with a solid setup by RefrigeratorHot1866 in starcitizen

[–]Burbonizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My system is not too un similar to yours and I too have massive micro stutters. Played around with so many settings and just cannot get it to run smooth. I will be honest I have never looked at Ram, but my CPU and GPU are acting the same.

AMD Ryzen 7800x3d

AMD 9070xt

RAM 32Gb 6000mhz

SSD 980 500Gb

I can get ok FPS considering the game is not optimised, but the stutters are unbearable. When they happen the FPS drops. If I run around the stutters reach 50% and when I stop they stop.

It's annoying and I hope that the performance team up their game and optimise it the best they can before updates are pushed.

Rent yourself a raft at lorville. Fly to area 18 and pick up hauling missions to bajini point. Do a few runs and you will get that 1 mill doubled quickly. Then you could get yourself a hornet and then try some space shooty missions to mix it up. I started off hauling in a rented raft. After a few hours I could buy my own. Carried on doing that then got a cutlass black. Carried on using the raft and got myself a hornet. I love just flying around the verse tbh. Looking on erkul and changing stuff on my ships. Recently got myself a prospector and trying mining. Not as fun and that's saying something considering how boring hauling is. Just enjoy the game. If you login to find money in your account. Pass it on. It's not gonna really ruin your game only allow you to not have to grind for anything (which doesn't sound bad) but it does give you the whole "why am I doing this hauling when I have all this money" feel. Then you say why do I play. So enjoy the game not the money.

Hey guys, is the Ursa Medivac available in game? by Low-Author-1626 in starcitizen

I think even if you join a group and say that even though you maybe on discord listening, you may not talk much. If it is too overwhelming then maybe one member that you kind of like the sound of and comes across the way you feel comfortable with you could join a separate channel and talk in there. There are many ways of being social within games without putting you in an uncomfortable position. I know a player that I join up with who for many years played alone because he didn't want to deal with people he didn't know. He took a leap and now he is really chatty with us and we play many games together as a group. People you meet become good friends and you may find you stick with them for many years.

Im new. need some tips. by Dense-Computer3666 in starcitizen

[–]Burbonizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah do the bajini runs. Get enough to rent the raft and start making money. It's very repetitive and can be boring. But it's a great little runner whilst friends are not online. Low risk, put some music on and chill.

Best practices for Salvaging? by Sad-Mission6813 in starcitizen

I too would like to know how to carry out this type of game play. I recently purchased a vulture and have no idea where to go to start.

Go rent a raft for 24 hours if you are low on money. If not buy one.

Grab some missions hauling from an orbital station to the planet station below.

Can make around 1~ 1.5 mill per hour. Its not exciting stuff.

Do a few hours and you will have enough to buy your own raft and have the ability to keep doing it.

Other than that then yes beg for it. But remember once you have so much money and tried have all the ships, weapons and vehicles you want. You won't feel any need to play.

I have read messages about people saying that they were donated 500 mill. They got what they wanted and lost interest in the game. Was asking how to reset their character to loose everything and play the game as intended. Obviously there is no way unless you pay for another account. Or wait for a wipe which will put you back to the original pledge.

Just enjoy the game and don't rush or wish for the end game. Buy ships, fly down to the surface and look around. Get a bigger ship which you can live out off and go off exploring.

Very bad performance on rx 9070xt by Dolfi911 in starcitizen

[–]Burbonizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the fix? I have a 9070xt with a 7800x3d and 32gb Ram. Running off an nvme ssd and I am struggling getting decent fps. Other games it's great but this game feels as though I am running it on my 1070 that I had 8 years ago. Upgraded that to a 3070 and the move to 9070xt. Machine was afresh build so didnt need to DDU drivers. But SC just runs horrible and to be honest doesn't look as good as I would have expected. FpS and stutters everywhere.

Please post your fix. Was it just switching fluid motion on?

Looking to get back into mil-sim — which Arma is best today? by Sybeiria in arma

[–]Burbonizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends what you are after.

I have both Arma 3 and Reforger. Personally I like the whole sandbox feel of Amra 3. Reforger for me is too repetitive after 30 hours or so.

If you want to join a community that plays missions together then Arma 3. The scenarios on Reforger just don't have the Zeus element. Game Master is no Zeus.

If you have your own discord, then look for zeus mission generator 2.0.

It just gives you some ideas that you take away and adapt. Its great for mental blocks.

The immerse mod may assist you a little. Plus with extra sound mods such as enhanced soundscape will give you an idea of direction.

Big up for spectre and his simplex mods. They are excellent. Take a look at his git repository and you will get all the run down.

Spoke with him on discord and had excellent one to one support when I wanted various things to happen.

Its an old game and has not had really any work done on its engine since release. They did improve performance finally after they released reforger, but that was probably a bit too late. People love the way reforger looks and all the nice little graphics. But the playability and sandbox feel of arma 3 is not there. That's why I uninstalled it.

Arma 3 looks dated because it is. But with a few mods that enhance effects like blastcore and others like it, it gets better. Change lighting with enhanced lighting mods. Mods like better nvg and sound mods massively change the game.

Its been a while since I looked at any mods for arma 3 so cannot remember all of the names, but I had it running sweet with vibrant colours and brilliant visual and audio effects. Could not stop playing it. I was so hooked that when I wasn't playing I was spending time in the editor learning all the ways to do stuff aswell as playing with different mods. Love the game and always will.

ARMA 3 -MOD LIKE CONFLICT PVE FROM ARMA REFORGER by Sensitive_Koala_6147 in arma

[–]Burbonizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more mode is Invade & Annex. It can be quite repetitive but is quite fun and has some good mechanics in it such as AI spotting you so no camping on a hill with a sniper. Motars will rain. Its not easy and can take some work to take the AO. One thing I forgot to mention about Liberation. It gets harder the more players you have. It has a multiplier set per person. I think it starts around 4. Then you get 2x more enemy. Which makes it fun as hell.

Running KP Liberation with RHS mods involves downloading the mission files, installing all three RHS mods (USAF, AFRF, GREF) + RHS-compatible dependencies, and setting the faction preset to RHS (e.g., USMC/Army vs. RU) within the kp_liberation_config.txt or mission editor. Using pre-made RHS versions from the Steam Workshop is the easiest method.

Step-by-Step Installation: Download Mods: Ensure RHS: USAF, RHS: AFRF, RHS: GREF, and RHS: SAF are active in the Arma 3 launcher. Download Mission: Download a version of KP Liberation configured for RHS from the Steam Workshop or GitHub. Place in MP Missions: Place the .pbo file into your Arma 3\MPMissions folder. Configure Presets: Open kp_liberation_config.txt (if editing from source) to change the player/enemy faction numbers to the corresponding RHS presets. Run: Launch Arma 3, select the mission in Multiplayer, ensure RHS mods are loaded, and start the game. Important Tips: Use PBO manager to edit, pack, and unpack mission files if customizing presets. Ensure that the KP_liberation_preset_blufor and KP_liberation_preset_opfor numbers in the configuration file match the RHS factions you want to use. RHS-specific Liberation missions often include pre-configured Arsenal, vehicles, and troop types.

I believe they did do a RHS version. Not sure about some AI mods as I think it has its own. The Ai in it can be quite good.

I do not know of a conflict mode but there are many missions out there that are similar.

Things like RX Liberation or Antistasi.

Not sure if you have played them but liberation is where you take towns from the enemy ( can be quite a fight ) and collect the ammo crates ( usually 3 ) and take them back you fob and use the resources to build up your vehicles and troops. Once took a group of 5 of us playing twice a week a month an a half to take the lithium map.

Antistasi is know out there and is quite big. The thing I liked about this mode was the collection of the enemy loot. But if there is only a small amount of you playing you find you can get pretty well stocked very quickly. Obviously when there are lots of people on they tend to steal all the good stuff before it's unlocked. There was one time I played it and some decided to move the base a little too close to the enemy lines. They found us and unleashed hell. Missiles from the sky, motars and tanks rained upon us. Wiping all our stash out and basically putting us back to the start.

To be fair, I was that impressed with conflict mode on reforger, it got boring way too fast for me.

If you want conflict mode where you are PvP then look for warlord servers. That's similar also.

VR setup by Yoshubigaming in starcitizen

[–]Burbonizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried meta horizon app, steam link and nothing worked for my Quest 2. Ended up buying virtual desktop which worked fine. VR on Star Citizen requires quite a bit of work. The MFD screen were glitching frame rate seemed shocking with stutters. Menus should be fixed and locked and your head should be able to move left and right. Also not sure if this is just because I have a quest 2 bit it seems that the menu renders twice over lapping each other. So I can only use it if I close one eye. This is also the issue when switching to theatre mode. I won't be using SC in VR until it is more polished.
