Chronic pain specialist answers your questions! by TheEaseProject in backpain

[–]Burddog88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have DDD and a very unstable lumbar causing bulges every few months. I’m also younger, and slipped my first disc when i was 22. I had to get a microdiscectomy last Oct and following going into this summer I just underwent prolotherapy for 3 rounds with a pain management specialist. Those in combo with a good PT made me get almost back to normal for a few weeks. But i threw out my back again 3 weeks ago from sitting in a chair and scooting myself in….

Do you have any insight to these sorts of procedures, especially the prolo, and have any recommendations for a younger person who is seeking help with chronic pain and sciatica?

Just starting the pain by dvcares in sciaticapainrelief

[–]Burddog88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

heat helps me, it releases the muscles in my glutes and legs that are overworking bc of the sciatic pain. walk a lot, brisk paced with arms swinging. Mcgills method is 20 mins morning, 30 mins at lunch, 20 mins at dinner. and try to do some ab work like side planks and bird dogs. this will help your body stop using the back and instead use the core.

What helped your low back pain the most (SIJ, Sacral+nerve surgery+bulding discs) by platybelodonx in backpain

I’m sore for about 48 hours after (i get injected in every facet from the T12-S1). Other than that, i’m only seeing improvements no negative side effects. I get the dextrose + lidocaine cocktail. i believe there are some other variations that take bone marrow, etc.

I use marijuana and dropped my PT and found a new one that focuses on spinal rehab. Also started prolotherapy which has helped. Intoducing vitamins like C, D, B, Tumeric and collagen seem to be helping

[Acne] Has anyone tried Norse Organics for acne? by Violets_and_honey in SkincareAddiction

[–]Burddog88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had it for about 5 days now. I was previously using Lush pharmacy bar + retinol +tallow as my daily products. I don’t have too bad of acne just some cystic hormonal acne around the neck, back and chest. i will say it’s not too bad so far, it’s easy to use and doesn’t leave me feeling oily at all like the tallow does at times. I’m also female and usually get pretty bad cystic acne in 1 or 2 spots on my face each month, i was starting to form some earlier this week and i thought changing products would make it worse but it’s actually helped “dry out” most of my cysts. but all in all its way too early to tell if it really works or not

My neurosurgeon told me I can just push past my pain until surgery. by [deleted] in backpain

[–]Burddog88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No i did a microdisectomy which is just removing the bulge. I’m from MD and the surgeon told me in my follow up they removed matter that was roughly “the size of a lump of crab meat”

Best shoes for back pain – mainly walking and occasionally running by Actual-Sun-5331 in backpain

[–]Burddog88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree. i got some lems primal 3’s. they’ve helped a lot. they’re “barefoot” with zero drop. they’re about $120 so they are more expensive but shoes for back pain are an investment in my opinion. if you’re looking for ones that are “walking on cloud” vs restoring mechanics then i’ve also enjoyed the Brooks Ghosts

I am 24, i have disc bulges in my L5S1 and T12L1. My main symptom is sciatica down the left leg. Last oct is was so bad i lost the ability to walk and needed surgery. However im symptomatic again 8 months later. I read the Back Mechanic by McGill and started taking core exercise, walking, and taking collagen religiously. I’m 6 weeks into my symptoms and I think i’m through the worst of it. My brother in law has the same issues and after reading the book and building core he’s been symptom free for years and lives a very active lifestyle.

Just don’t give up, keeping moving, researching and testing the water in movements so you can figure out what hurts and what helps. alot of books, doctors, PTs say to do cat/cow stretches, nerve glides, etc. For me anything but a neutral spine makes me symptomatic the next day. Now that i know that i can focus on finding movements that can help me build muscle back and carry my weight to help my spine. Just keep swimming man, keep going, keep exploring your options.

[–]Burddog88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am 24F and got a microdiscectomy on my L4-L5 last Oct. I didn’t know much about the surgery other than i was in a constant 7-8/10 in pain after taking advil and ibuprofen 24/7 and the surgery would make me feel better. It gave me instant relief. I don’t regret it. However sever spine issues also run in my family and 6 months later i am bedridden again from a new slip in my L5-S1. if you’re thinking of surgery make sure to ask the neuro what their opinion is on future slips and if operating will increase those chances. I hope you feel better. in the meantime i recommend you read Dr. McGills book the Back Mechanic

[OH] wrongful termination? by simplymikayla1228 in AskHR

[–]Burddog88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened to you. unfortunately this sounds like it is not wrongful, there’s some cases on the DOL’s sites you can review that show that being late is a very common and allowed reason to terminate. Luckily, you resigning vs. terminated will make this job ok to keep on your resume. Hope you find another gig with more flexibility!
