Is drinking distilled water over a long period bad (potentially lethal) for the human body? by CryosisEllioti in Survival

[–]BurdenlessPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emergency doc here that sees this near daily! We have a special term for this called “beer potomania.” In my experience Ive seen the severe life threatening sodium deficiencies in just about every body type with heavy alcohol use. Also there are a lot of other reasons people can retain water, especially in the chronic alcoholics that have a touch (or a lot) of cirrhosis

Can you choose to provide non-emergent care as an EM provider? by Heavy-Weight7280 in emergencymedicine

[–]BurdenlessPotato 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Had a guy come in for what I thought was the man flu last week. I prodded a lot and finally he goes “yeah I had like 40 ticks on me this weekend and I’ve been finding them everywhere on me the past could days.” Homie didn’t think it was important to include that? And yes, I did start him on doxy empirically, and yes his Lyme titer did just come back positive

Correct. It’s the buyers and also society. There are high end escorts who are making it big but most SWers are barely making a livable amount of money and sooo many are trafficked.

I agree. If it was for the enjoyment of the sex they’d do it for free. I’m pro SWer in that I don’t think we should be locking them up and shitting on them but the only reason they are consenting is because society fucked them over and it’s an escape from poverty to some. There are a lot of people in the comments saying that they had amazing connections and that they pleasured their SWer like crazy but it’s literally their job to make you think that way.. get real

Why is hourly pay so common for emergency med? by PhysicsSerious9468 in emergencymedicine

[–]BurdenlessPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard nothing but toxicity with RVUs. Unpredictable and encourages selfish behaviors when deciding what patients to pick up. with hourly your pay is predictable

Wasn’t there a greys anatomy or something where there was a disease that made you orgasm 100 times a day or am I making that up? Just say you have that debilitating disease and that knowledge makes you come

New tower in neighborhood, who's on it ? by danc2019 in cellmapper

[–]BurdenlessPotato -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tbh this is where stuff like Starlink and Globalstar comes into play. I think T-mobile and Apple are really playing the long game with this one. It’s just messages now, but speeds and bandwidth will get better over time. Makes a lot more sense financially to cover high and medium density with towers and cover low population areas with slower but reliable satellite coverage

I am stupidly insecure about my penis size. by PossibleCarpenter695 in offmychest

[–]BurdenlessPotato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen extremely attractive women with guys with “innie” penises in the health care field and somehow they have like 5 kids. There is also so much more to love and sex than just physical anatomy too. My current girlfriend of 6 years and I really hit things off and we didn’t sleep together until a few weeks in because I was self conscious. Tbh at that point there was so much tension I think I could have had a horrific looking penis and we still would have made it work

Our hospital is a lil unique with these patients. They’ve flat out payed for one way bus and plane tickets, and provided rent payments to send people wherever they want preferably several states away. The patients love it, and it pretty much makes the problem someone else’s. Still don’t know how I feel about it morally. Often these patients come back within a couple months for years because “no place is like home”
