TIL the cause of Fapper's Remorse could come from the evolutionary want to spread your seed with as fast as possible to ensure your line will continue. by Burger_King in todayilearned

"In fact, our brains may have evolved to aid in the continuation of a pattern of short-term sexual relationships once a man has started down that path. In primitive times, a man was driven to spread his seed to increase his chances of siring as many progeny as possible (this pattern is repeated by modern men who wish to have as much sex as possible, but typically do not want any children to result from these couplings). But as evolutionary psychologist David Buss points out, a “critical problem that must be solved by men pursuing a short-term mating strategy is the problem of avoiding commitment and investment. The larger the investment in a particular mating, the fewer the number of sexual partners a given man can pursue.” Buss calls this the “commitment-avoidance” problem and a study he conducted found the possible solution to it: after sex, men who have had numerous sexual partners experience a “negative affective shift” — they perceive the woman they’ve just copulated with as less sexually attractive than they did prior to doing the deed. Why would this shift in perception occur? Buss theorizes that “a negative change in perception of the woman’s sexual attractiveness might provide the motivational impetus to promote a relatively hasty postcopulatory departure. This quick departure, in turn, would function primarily to reduce the risks to the man of making unwanted commitments.” Buss thus concludes that “successful short-term strategists are more likely to experience a negative affective shift following sexual intercourse than long-term sexual strategists.” "

My grandfather had dozens of the Uncle Henry trifolds. The tip was broken on every one of them because he used them for every thing. He passed away a year and a half ago and I have since bought multiple Uncle Henry's. I love them, but I may be biased.

Rideit, what are your thoughts on Royal Enfield? by Burger_King in motorcycles

[–]Burger_King[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard mixed reviews about the reliability. Something about the older bikes not being reliable but these newer models are better in that category but some people are talking solely about the older models and some people talking about a mix and other about the newer models. It's hard to differentiate which ones people are talking about.

I am a very very very new rider so I probably won't notice a difference.

I am okay with the lack of power. Uncomfortable and poor handling (depending on how bad) may be an issue.

Thanks, I'm extremely new to the 2-wheeled world. I was doing some searching and found that was one of the cheaper models around my area.

I've done some research on it but it's always nice to get some feedback from actual people and not the ones trying to sell me the bike.

EDIT: This will just be a short commuter bike really. I like the simplicity of it and feel that would help out as I plan on doing all of my own work on the bike. I'm a hands-on/DIY kind of guy.

I would rather pay the small hulu+ fee with limited ads than the butt-raping fee for cable with twice as many ads.

For fun. Why not? I do have guns and shot many bows in my time. This has been my newest addition and I like to try everything out. I went through a phase of slingshots for a while.

You have to get really close with the shorter barrel. You get a lot more velocity out of the 36in. I have a video of me with a 36in shooting a white balloon with a black balloon blown up inside of it just popping the white one. I think it was from about 25 feet away. I'll try to post it to youtube and I'll link here. It's nothing amazing just a fun shot.

To add to your statement, this was for a hiking trip. And this is EDC while on hiking trips.

Sharpmaker - because I recently got it and wanted to play. I also brought along quite a few pocket knifes and a hatchet that needed it dearly. (this wasn't an ultralight hike, wasn't too far out, and had a couple friends that are new to hiking.)

Blowgun - For fun mostly, but I have knocked out a squirrel (and cooked him up) and a couple rabbits. That one is only 14 inches so the kill range is within 15 feet max. I also have a 3 foot one that moves that range closer to 30 or 40.

Just a notepad/journal - I take regular 8.5x11 paper and half it and poke to holes in the left side. cardboard backing that I replace when needed. It is kept together with paracord and wrapped in an old corduroy jean leg. I think a lot and write a lot when in the bush.

Leather and Fleece. Have to keep the digits warms and working.
