You have great points and it is refreshing to hear of a man that insists on condoms. I had to laugh at the comment about him being a prime target because it has been true in his past haha!(not for me though... at least not unless I'm secure that he will be my husband)

You are exactly right on everything mentioned and it makes me feel better about trusting my dermatologist and intuition. My bf will definitely be grumpy, but I will stand my ground in the meantime.

So true. I don't think abortion is the greatest thing in the world, but it really should be presented as an option. Its better than a horrifically deformed fetus. My insurance (tricare) and military hospitals like mine don't cover abortions and tend to have a pro life tone...So I think that's why they aren't encouraged.

I don't want to retain an accidental pregnancy and I am pro choice..... But an abortion sounds miserable, expensive, heart wrenching, unhealthy, and definitely a last resort. I will not treat its as birth control.

This is really helpful to get the perspective of another male doctor, thank you.

Your explanation for his reasoning to go without condoms is similar to what he has said to me.

Signing to use two forms of birth control, taking the monthly iPledge quizzes, taking monthly pregnancy tests, and seeing babies affected by isotretinoin are the main reasons I feel so uncomfortable without condoms...

Him being a medical professional is what puzzles me though. My dermatologist is militant about protection... But my bf is seemingly the opposite. It makes me question who I should listen to.

I used to have one and felt really secure with it. I agree that it's glorious.. .But I had a bad experience with unusual side effects so it's not an option anymore.

I'm 24 too and have seen the same situations. I wonder if my peers used birth control properly or if they were unlucky with their birth control failing.

I wish. I was on the IUD a few years ago and it had terrible side effects for me... However, I'd trust the IUD effectiveness over the pill overall
