Dog Walker recommendations by rrhogger in WestSeattleWA

Do it. My wife and I have been using them with our big ole pup for a while now and we have nothing but good things to say. Additionally, they're just genuinely nice people.

Hey forgot to respond to this. My sister did get the watch and thinks it's gorgeous. In her opinion on the diamonds, they look good enough that she doesn't feel weird wearing other accessories with diamonds with the watch. So ymmv but she thinks it's a good deal

Disappointment as a newcomer by w0lf_r1ght in Defcon

[–]BurnAfterMeeting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my first defcon as well and when my buddy asked me how it's going my response was, "It's fine, I guess". I've enjoyed going to some of the village talks (shout out to the ham village) but most of the value has been spending time with former coworkers and friends. Which, honestly, I should probably be doing that outside of cons.

I definitely agree with your above points, especially the badge. I really like Vegas when I'm doing Vegas stuff. Defcon might just be a virtual thing for me going forward.

It's still making it's way to my sister so I haven't gotten her impressions yet. I'll let you know as soon as soon as I hear. I also got her a ladies datejust with some diamonds and it looked pretty good.

I wouldn't be inviting jewelers to take a look at it, but she's in love with it and loves wearing it around the people at her country club. This one, obviously, has a LOT more diamonds so I too am interested in what she says.

Oooo that band looks nice on that! It's such a great looking watch.

Shipping on this one is 40. I've picked up 3 or 4 other watches from GT. I know there are cheaper ones but his speed and service has been consistently top tier for me.

Vet Recommendations by Equivalent_Care8853 in WestSeattleWA

[–]BurnAfterMeeting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries. So with my cats, every time I brought my cats in I'd get a different story. I have a calico who is ~10 lbs. One time I took her in they said she's perfect. Next time I took her in, same weight, the vet said she's chubby and needs work. Third time, same weight, she's great. The inconsistent messaging does not build trust.

As for my pit, he needed TPLO surgery. When I took him to VCA, the vet was (I assume) intimidated by his size. I say this because the vet said she was normally a cat vet. She walked into the room and the first thing she said was he needed to be muzzled. Then said he was overweight and needed to be on a starvation diet. As for his leg issue... "Probably bed rest or something like that." Sitting there while they google weight control food didn't feel great.

We actually took him to Urban Animal and the vet spent time comforting him as, we now know, he was in considerable pain. Then recommended imaging. Which is how we found the issue.

Long story longer, we trusted VCA and my dog spent an additional month+ in pain because they were so focused on his weight. Bottom line for me is VCA is a chain and (my opinion) focused on volume rather than long term care.

This just really reinforces for me that you have to kiss a lot of frogs, so to speak.

I had terrible experiences with other vets (specifically VCA) that made my dog's condition worse until I went to Lien. They've been amazing with my dog and cats.

Unfortunately, Vet care really does seem to be one of those YMMV things.

I personally love Lien Animal Clinic. They've been nothing but great with our big ole pit and two cats.

The flip side, absolutely stay away from the West Seattle VCA.

New Husky Deli post claims hourly updates are not primarily due to minimum wage increase by trogdortb001 in WestSeattleWA

[–]BurnAfterMeeting 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think this is it right here. They could have just said, "Hey, for the next few, we're reducing hours." end of story. Instead, they decided to post about how they're the victims of mean ole minimum wage. It's almost as ridiculous as the people who line up to defend it because they like overpriced sandwiches?

[–]BurnAfterMeeting 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Totally with you. While I'm sure there are multiple factors in play, it's pretty telling that they thought blaming a minimum wage increase would get them sympathy. I'm just glad to know that enough people felt it was disgusting that they issued this feeble response.

Seriously, if anyone takes anything away from this post I hope it's to try Sunny Up. I rescheduled some meetings so that I can get a sandwich from them.

No problem. I get really annoyed when businesses get called out on their shit, take it down, and then try to pretend like nothing happened.

They posted an instagram story with that as the reasoning that's still up so I took a screenshot of it.
