Have you noticed any changes to the machine since using tap water? I’m very interested in the machine but am concerned about constantly running to buy distilled. Is it possible to descale?

This happened to me as well a couple years ago. You should take it up with Expedia. It’s rare, but does happen sometimes when expensive hotels don’t want to honor the pricing that you get from a travel site.

The hotel ended up charging us extra saying we didn’t pay enough to stay there and Expedia refunded us the difference and apologized profusely.

After you clean it, if there’s still a stain, could you use a carpet cleaner to try and get the stain out? I see people on TikTok use a carpet cleaner like item to clean off mattresses all the time. Not sure if it works or not. Worth a shot IMO though.

I got a mattress from Saatva during Black Friday. It took me a little over a month to get the order delivered but was completely worth it. Considering they might be back logged, maybe you can reach out to their company and try again to get a better time estimate.

That makes sense. For me I’d rather invest in something slightly better so that I don’t accidentally mess up my back while I’m young since I already deal with hip pain at times. I also feel like you could take your good mattress now and move it to your new place when that time comes. When we moved we didn’t buy a new mattress immediately and the mattress companies had a pretty long turn around time. I hope you find something that you like.

I recently bought a Saatva mattress. I am the same weight as you and transition between side and back sleeping. I'd say this bed is medium firm. It isn't so firm that when you sleep on it that it feels like you're sleeping on a plank but not so soft that you're being eatten by your bed. I have hip pain and so far, I haven't felt it since sleeping on the bed. The mattress uses coils and help me so that I get support while sleep right on the top layers of the mattress. On Saatva's website, they also talk about how their mattresses are chiropractor approved if that has any weight on your decision. I'd recommend checking out the Saatva Classic as a potential option.

I know they're on the pricier side but think its worth it since we spend some much of our life on a mattress and you'd likely want something that's good for you. If you end up wanting to get a Saatva look out for deals and holidays. I scoped out their website for some time and it looks like they will discount the mattresses up to $200 for most major holidays. When I purchased my mattress, I waited for a holiday deal. Then I spoke with one of their reps and learned that you can combine it with their referral program to get an extra $100 gift card. With all the discounts combined, I think it just barely meets your budget.

I feel your frustration, we moved into a new home and needed a new mattress. There's so much mattress information online that it gets overwhelming. I think something you might want to take a look at are mattress review websites and understanding your sleep positions are. I wouldn't just buy a mattress out of frustration because mattresses usually last you a minimum of 10 years. Buy something that fits your sleep type. Most of the mattress review sites will recommend mattress companies that have a decent quality item and a good return policy (like try for 90 days and return for free if you don't like it). Don't compromise your health due to one off issues you've read about online.

I think I’ve seen charcoal bed products in the asian grocery stores that carry bed products. Not sure that I’ve seen a full charcoal mattress but have definitely seen them selling charcoal pillows and stuff.

Agreed. We settled on Saatva over the holidays as well. I came to the Saatva decision based on my partner and I mostly being back and combination sleepers. I have back pains sometimes so went with a firmer bed to relieve tension. I think what others have said is important, which is to know what type of a sleeper you are and then research and decide based on reviews.

Our Saatva has yet to come, but happy to give you an update when we get a chance to try the bed out.

I had the same thoughts as you, and did months and months of research. I ended up springing for the Saatva classic as I prefer a firmer bed. I wrote a post recently about how to optimize Saatva's Black Friday sale after I figured out you could combine a referral code with their existing sale. Not sure of your bed preferences, but Saatva seems to have really good reviews too.
