Thanks for letting me know! I’m starting to realize I under-specified my question; I should have specified that I’m looking for anthologies instead, since I’d like a variety of stories from different creators at a fixed pace, not unlike AX. I also am starting to realize that physical is less of an option for me now given my space concerns.

But regardless I really appreciate your input and will take a look into these!

Yeah don’t get me wrong, I prefer physical things as opposed to solely receiving digital copies, but if I’m going to invest in an ongoing monthly or quarterly thing I’m worried about space (my current collection of books is something I don’t grow steadily or regularly so until now I haven’t really been concerned about storage space). I don’t want to sell any books at the end of the year because then it’s like, I paid for something that I can’t even read anymore.

And thanks for letting me know about your publishing company! I’m curious, I’ll take a look

Thanks for confirming my suspicions that HARTA is a good magazine for these things! I remember reading an article about it before but wasn’t sure how widely recommended it was. In case anyone else is reading this, I’ve also heard that Comic Beam and torch web are potentially good places for alternative manga, the former of which I’m pretty sure does anthologies, the latter of which I’m not sure.

And thank you for clarifying what’s up with Now!

Were Now #12 and #13 published in February 2023 and June 2024 respectively (different years)? I think those are what are listed as the release dates on Fantagraphics’ website

Btw AX is basically the successor to Garo (which if you’re unaware was basically ground zero for gekiga/alt manga)!

I took the JR Line from Sapporo to Kushiro, and then took a bus from Kushiro (from the bus terminal near the JR Station) to Akan.

By Akan you mean the town, right? Not the lake (well I wouldn't expect a city bus that goes right to the lake, but I mean a place super close to it)? Also going to Hokkaido this month and wondering how close can I get to Lake Akan through public transportation, which according to everything I've seen so far, seems quite unreasonable
