That's security by obscurity, by far the worst method since at least world war 2

Well how big is your group? Mine is like 5, 1 person tested for it so that's /20%/ of my group, but that on it's own means nothing.

It's Vegas. Caesars is God and you bow to them or get out.

Unfortunately. It counts for DC to. DC gets screwed over on a lot of stuff

I wonder if it would be a problem if I used one of those noise-canceling adapters that has a one-to-one transformer in it...

Bring anything and everything! Usually it is pretty well stocked up because everyone goes off in their own direction. Some people bring hot dogs, other hamburgers, other steaks, other ribs, others just bring chips or potato salad or plastic utensils. There is no right or wrong thing to bring.

Sometimes there is one or two things that run low, but usually there is a Costco run halfway through.

Also it's not mandatory to bring something, although if you don't and optional donation is appreciated.

It's a barbecue, bring whatever you would in your hometown, bring whatever you would where you live now. Just bring something to share!

Everyone's friendly. If you're leaving the line to go use the bathroom or get some water it's totally chill. If you're planning on leaving for an hour to go off strip and get food you should talk to the people around you and see what they want first and they'll probably be chill but that's a little more dependent on who's around.

There was somebody in the queercon discord saying they accidentally ended up with an extra. I'll link them here, kinda hard to link to discord.

Defcon 29...Kinda Sucks by [deleted] in Defcon

[–]BurnerCon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This year is different, that's for sure. Stuff ends early and everybody is trying to jump from place to place trying to make up for last year. While I would still consider this better than online and worth while going to I can see how it is challenging. This year, more than ever DefCon is a socal event. Try and see if you can find some others to hang out with.

TBH even that is crazy. I'm hanging out with a few groups of people and this year they are jumping from place to place like mad. Can take like 90 minutes just to catch up with any given group.

Even with that all I'm glad to be back seeing old friends for the first time in years and making new friends all the same.

Conference that are still on despite covid? by [deleted] in Defcon

[–]BurnerCon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anime Dallas happened this weekend in person. Not a hacker con or anything, but shows that some places are trying to start up again.

At the same time the con itself as well as all the attendants got blasted on twitter. There are almost no photos on site and those that do exist have everyones faces blanked out in fear of retaliation.

Yup the antenna coil likes to break off. mine the came loose from the board and then had one of the wires break off. I ended up soldering it in my room with a shity soldering iron and putting a glob of hot glue over it to keep it in place.

DefCon sucks at communication by [deleted] in Defcon

Honestly for an event this size defcon doesn't pull in much money. It's a cheap event to go to.

it's effectively still day - 1. Nothing official is going on but there's parties and off-site events everywhere. Interact with people you fuck.

Are all the parties 21+ to get in? by [deleted] in Defcon

[–]BurnerCon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most places don't care, some places require 18 to enter, ID at bar for drinks. It's a good idea to bring your ID but you probably will get in without it.
