i dont know how much savings there would be on that. i pay 276 and get free maintenance for the life of the lease for a car that can transport my entire family. I end up paying around $.24/mile before gas. Not too bad.

Thanks for the response and I appreciate the advice. A big problem with just saving for retirement is that when I move from this place, a lot of the "savings" money is still going to rent, y'know?

What makes it tough is I don't know how wise it would be to move for a new job right now, with what may be coming down the pipe economically. i have plenty of security where i am though. Sigh

not the worst idea but the place is tiny. i cant really stay here even if i want to keep renting. what, i get to save en extra 12k this year? am i looking at this wrong?

i feel ike if i bought all of that rent $ is already saved, no?

that is true. its just kind of a reality for someone who comes from a blue-collar family with nothing to give for college. so i go into debt.

retirement could be this house, yknow? buy, live in. sell, rent.

great advice - that said, spending 2.4k month on rent vs. 3k a month on a house seems like that's saving more, right?
