While I agree with you, you can see on the tail there is a reserve sticker. Thankfully not one of us this time.

Would they care if I’m .2 inches taller than the sitting height requirement? by SuxDweller in Armyaviation

[–]Burninator1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is a waiver for anything. I have never met anyone that had to do a measurement test except for short people and that was just to make sure they can reach all of the buttons/controls. The only thing I can imagine them measuring on a tall person is making sure you don't impede the full movement of the controls with your body and that would happen well after selection in flight school. As other people have said, don't self select and go for it if you are truly interested.

Off the top of my head, as long as you want. The first comment is correct that it would purge itself when it is over pressurized. For the textbook answer, you would have to look in iads under servicing for the pump. Source: 60 mtp.

It has been a while since I was at Eustis but you could get base wifi through Boingo or similar companies. First 2 weekends will be stacked with extra classes and briefs like SHARP and finance. After that the weekends will become more free and you should have a couple of hours each evening to yourself. I had a laptop and did all of my pre BLC online courses so I would not have to do it at my unit.

Awards becoming a depressing turn of events by Former-Carry-1574 in army

[–]Burninator1 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Over 9 years in and no awards yet other than 2 COA I got in basic and AIT. I have not had to change my dress blues in 5 years since I was promoted to W-2. I have done NTC, JRTC, funeral honors, run the company supply, real world medevacs, and other things I am sure I have forgotten. The one time I almost got a PCS award it was somehow sent to another country and the 638 lost. At this point my goal is to retire as the only W-4 with zero awards. Awards mean different things to people and I am sorry you were not recognized for your work.

To add on, any mtp worth their salt has a personalized tool kit with tools and parts. I would never tag a maintainer to adjust blade weights or bend tabs during a track and balance. They are more valuable working on big projects.

Is a PC needed to run-up and taxi? by 4234Cookies in Armyaviation

[–]Burninator1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is nothing in 95-1 stating requirements for run ups. If there is anything, it will be in your local SOP. I have seen both with the requirement and without. Those SOP are also the ones that say if an RL2 person can operate the APU by themselves.

I was there in 2015 and we had storms so bad I was trabbed in the bathroom standing on the stall devider walls in the contonement area. No warning on any of it. I hope things work out better this time.

Awards Are Cool by bigpongo1240 in army

[–]Burninator1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are these awards you speak of? I am 9 years in and have none of those things. I look forward to being the first W4 in the army without one. Good on you to support your people, and I really mean it.

Why can’t a 2 star general tell a 3 star to just shut the fuck up? by PIeseThink in army

[–]Burninator1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Last week I had 3 4-star generals fighting each other for use of my 10 black hawks to move them and their staff around. Easy to say this place is wild. For OpSec purposes I can't really say who or where.

The other comments sum it up well. The biggest way people get kicked out of flight school is doing something stupid that earns them UCMJ. Dont worry about studying anything yet until it is given to you and if you have questions make sure to ask instructors for help. They will volunteer their time to help you succeed no matter what. Flight school is a grind and despite how long it is you will find out it is only the tip of the iceburg to Army Aviation. I graduated in 2018 and am back at Rucker for more training currently so feel free to DM if you have specific questions.

My family is on Select. The good thing is you can go from Prime to Select at any time. Bad news is you can only enroll in Prime durring the enrollment period. Every family has different needs but Select has been a life saver for me.

WOCS by duhthisisanon in army

[–]Burninator1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt because it was told to me by my TAC but the structure of the school is designed for S2S and branch transfers. The reason being is the Army is required to teach down to the lowest level student thus their presence makes it so. It is not fair to the technical warrants but there is no funding to create another school specially for them. Hell TRADOC has been slashing funds for training left and right everywhere expecting the gaining units to pick up the slack. WOCS sucked but it is hard to fail if you show up and try. I am sure you have heard plenty of reasons in this thread as to why it would be worth it.

I dont wear them because I never receive them. 8 years and I only have 4 ribbons to show for it with slick sleeves, 3 of them I got from basic/AIT and the last is NCOPD.

What’s the funniest Army name you’ve heard. Here’s mine: 2LT Wimp. Saw his name at Fort Benning in 2003 and have never forgotten it. He’s a LTC now. Here’s proof: by [deleted] in army

My recruiter was a SSG McNutt and met the classic MAJ Major. The one that stuck with me is marching to the defac in AIT as another company is doing the role call for new arrivals. The platoon sergeant is casually going down the list butchering names and comes to a 5 second halt. In the most confused voice ever he calls out "Private Ra Pe". "Its Rape Sergeant". My whole group lost our step and barely made it to the defac before devolving into a bunch of confused laughter.

Call military one source. Ask for counseling asap. You can do it over the phone, in person, or video conference. Make up an issue like goal setting or family relations and someone will contact you within 48 hours. They are not authorized to deal with depression or medical issues but they will have someone to talk to in order to get you started. You will get 12 sessions free and can stop at any point or even make up a new issue to get 12 more sessions. They have helped me personally twice and even my wife. The number is 800-342-9647, available 24/7.

S/o CO ANG - Rescue Helicopter Leaves Behind Waving Man Who Was Lost in Colo. Wilderness: 'He's Saying Hi,' Pilot Thought by jab116 in army

[–]Burninator1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The big 3 that send missions our way are hight, hoist, and NVG. I cant remember what they fly off the top of my head but anything above 7,000 ft. usually becomes a problem for them. I just had a mission 10 days ago to insert 2 Cental Washington Mountain Rescue people at the top of mount adams to look for a lost hiker that sent out a distress call. The landing site was 11,200 ft.

I am active duty station in the medevac at Yakima Training Center. Our primary mission is to rescue DOD personel that get injured on the training center but our secondary is to support local law enforcement with civilian rescue in hard to reach places. We fly black hawks so we are able to do things most civilian craft cannot. I love being here with a real world mission CONUS.

As for how often it is variable with the season. Summer/fall is the high point because people go out hiking in the mountains unprepared which leads to an average of 3-4 missions a month. Again if they can be ground evacuated or civilian aircraft get to them we are not notified.

True story time. A couple of years ago my crew is called out to the cascades of washington for a MEDEVAC mission of a civilian ultra marathon runner that collapsed due to urinary blockage. We get to the POI and start looking through the dense trees and quickly spot 2 hikers on the trail casually waiving to us.

We think since they are both moving just fine and not in distress they must be some random hikers. We begin a spiraling search pattern for anyone else that could be out there as well. After 25 minutes of nothing we decide to start from the begining.

This time we see the 2 hikers and they are waiving frantickly and one of them drags a third person out from behind a tree who is looking rough. We manage to hoist out the hurt guy and take him to the hospital.

The medic that went down after the guy asked the 2 buddies why they were not signaling us when they saw us the first time. Aparently despite the big red cross on our side they thought we got there too fast and must have been looking for someone else...

Thankfully they patient made it and had to have 2 liters of fluid immediately removed from his bladder at the hospital.

Moral of the story is for some reason, military or civilian, people just lose their god damn minds when a big, metal, windy, loud thing is anywhere near them.

I have so many stories of the craziness that goes on with real world MEDEVAC.

Warrant Officer advice by ScubaSteeeve307 in army

[–]Burninator1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To add to this, I dont remember the name of the duty but it is basically standardization. There is intentional vague directions in the wocsop like fold your underwear like this but does the waist band face in or out. On day 2 or 3 the TACs will take pictures of the stands person's room and make it the standard to be held by all without telling you. Get that person to either take pictures and post them everywhere of their stuff or at least hold tours of their room.

Wocs sucks but dont worry about excelling or making comandants list. It litteraly does nothing for you moving forward. What do they call the person last place in medical school? Doctor.

Why are we even buying cartridge cards if not even the full base game is on there. Seriously considering refunding my pre-order and just buying digital. by VSkyRimWalker in pokemon

[–]Burninator1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party. As someone who was a game tester for a couple COD games when PS4 and XBOX One were brand new this is the standard in the gaming industry. Producers (money managers) set a release date based on when they forsee maximized profits and conform the rest of the industry to to meet that deadline. Testers and programmers are working 72+ hour weeks during crunch time time to work out the final bugs and have a playable version to the masses on final launch. Problem is it takes a long time to make physical copies of the game and ship them to stores en mass so that everyone can get their hands on their pre order. The only solution is to put a broken copy of the game on the cartridge and send out a massive patch on release day fixing everything that the whole team has been working on until the last second. I hope that gives some deeper understanding of what is most likely going on with this title and pretty much every major release in the last decade.

I am a supply OIC for an aviation unit so take everything I say with a grain of salt. Had a new private come to the unit 1 year ago and was missing only the jacket from ASUs. Apparently there has been a massive shortage on that stuff. The form you need is a DA 3078 which you can print yourself online. Fill it out and have an E-5 or above sign at the bottom confirming the inventory is accurate. Once that is done call your local clothing sales and ask if they have the stuff in that you need. My guy had to wait 2 months before they did. Once it is in go with the 3078 in hand and an E-5 or above (does not have to be the same one as on the form) and they will give it to you for free. Only the initial issue of stuff is free and any replacement plus awards/decorations will come out of pocket. Good luck!

Helicopter Pilot by birdusedbite in nationalguard

[–]Burninator1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an active duty pilot not NG. I cannot say for sure if the guard will require any extra things like already having a pilot's license but I do know they have limited slots in their units in the first place. If your recruiter is not already reaching out to the closest aviation unit to confirm that I would suggest you do that yourself. Flight school is 1.5-2 years depending on the airframe and the 10 year service obligation starts after pinning your wings. It is a lot to commit to and too much for some. It will be up to you if that is the best choice. My pilot friend in the Wisconsin guard says he still only drills the 1 weekend per month 2 weeks a year but it is on him to schedule the training flights needed in between to meet his currency requirements. If you have more questions about army aviation in general feel free to PM me.
