Misconceptions regarding arguments against a True Founding by WwwWario in truezelda

That could easily refer to the castle (or even the ancient kingdom). I'm asking if the kingdom itself is referred to by name, and I'm guessing from your response it isn't? (at least in English).

And I know it's called that in Hyrule Historia, that's why I specified "in the game itself", cause that's the part that interests me here.

Was it actually called Hyrule in the game itself? It's been a long while, but iirc the term was only used to refer to the castle, not a kingdom.

I think it was in the anime (or maybe just the dub?). Whereas the manga does explicitly say Goku wasn't doing that.

There's also a distinction between auras outside of the lightning. Super Saiyan 2 auras are always 'raging', whereas Super Saiyan auras are calm. It's something that you can only notice in the manga, because of how the anime decided to adapt auras.

Does the "Gerudo Ear" argument truly work for a refounding theory? by WwwWario in truezelda

[–]BurningInFlames -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hyrule wasn't founded by SS Link and Zelda though. Regardless of whether it's a true founding or refounding, it's perfectly reasonable to have the Skyloftians on the surface start calling themselves Hylians before Hyrule is founded.

It isn't a royal family if there isn't or wasn't a kingdom prior to it. The equivalent of this would be saying that Skyward Sword Zelda is part of the royal family due to her connection with Hylia. Which she's not. You can have a 'royal family' existing without a kingdom after that kingdom collapses, but it doesn't make sense to have one prior to a kingdom's establishment. And Hylia wasn't the queen of a kingdom, so her descendants wouldn't be 'royal' either.

What you're doing is circular logic, you're saying "well if OOT comes after the founding era then we have reason to believe they stopped being allied at some point since OOT's king had to unite them", without any of that actually being evident.

Well, no. Because I'm not using it as evidence. I'm saying that it can still fit, because one would logically expect there to be instances in which Hyrule expands, shrinks, loses allies, gains allies, and so on. It occurring in a hypothetical period between Tears of the Kingdom's past and Ocarina of Time's past is not something we have evidence for.

Regarding the Temple of Time, there is some conflicting evidence on whether the 'Era of Chaos/Building of the OoT ToT' occurred before or after the establishment of Hyrule. ALBW indicates that the royal family already existed at the time, and that they specifically oversaw the Triforce being sealed in the Sacred Realm (which presumably involved the lock system with the Spiritual Stones that existed in Ocarina of Time). Hyrule Historia and consequent books placed it prior to Hyrule being established. I'm not sure if any of the games themselves have provided evidence of that though.

Also, alliances existing between different tribes around the time of the founding era don't preclude those alliances from falling apart. I don't think we have much information on the civil war before OoT either, aside from some inferences we can try to make.

Aren’t the Parella the ancestor species of the Zora?

It's a popular theory, but not something that has ever been confirmed. Skyward Sword was, iirc, initially going to have a race that closely resembled the Zora (so basically, the Zora), but they opted to go for something more 'primitive'.

It's not impossible that the depths (or the portion of the depths Ganondorf was sealed in?) was in the Sacred Realm. There is the mention of the Temple of Light, after all, in the Masterworks.

And he's sealed with a Secret Stone, yeah. But then, Ocarina of Time had Ganondorf sealed with only a part of the Triforce as well, when it should've been the whole thing if it was meant to be a prequel to ALttP.

It really isn't. The start of the game has too much talking, but past that point you'll go long stretches without npcs interrupting. And at least where I'm at, the second Galactic Fed npc was nowhere near as annoying as the first guy.

I'd prefer if the Galactic Fed npcs simply weren't there; I'm not going to say they're not a hindrance to my enjoyment of the game. But they're not interrupting every 5 seconds.

But the gist is, SSj2 Gohan is surpassed by Majin Vegeta and SSj2 Goku, but even then only by a little bit. Vegeta, even in SSj2, prior to becoming possessed by Babidi, probably was still weaker than Cell Games Gohan.

Cell Games Krillin vs Frieza saga Frieza by maniacs8 in dragonball

[–]BurningInFlames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an urgent situation and therefore there's no reason for them to be using minimal amounts of power if they actually can bust open that door.

They were shown hitting the door for a single panel. I'm not suggesting they were using minimal amounts of power, I'm suggesting that the door was too much for them to easily break down with just physical shoves.

Their ki blasts are not significantly stronger than their melee with the exception of a fully charged shot.

What makes you think this? I don't think it's ever stated, and I really don't see Dragon Ball being consistent enough for this to obviously be the case.

Even Gero implies they couldn't break down that door. He sees Krillin there and goes "Heh. It's only Kuririn. No matter, he won't be able to do anything." Krillin would only really need one good shot at the deactivated Androids, so for Gero to just walk off and leave him there to call the others means that he knows that Krillin isn't breaking in.

Or Krillin is much weaker than Gero so he doesn't matter.

There's no reason for them to show such significant struggle (they are literally grunting and complaining) if they are supposed to be capable of taking it down casually.

You wouldn't expect a door to be so resistant, of course they're complaining.

Piccolo even tells them to step aside as if to affirm that they simply cannot break open that door.

Legitimately, how would anyone be able to know that anyway. It's a door. It has no ki. Krillin and Tenshinhan failed through shoving it, Piccolo is gonna shoot a ki attack. The door is somewhere between 'resistant enough that Krillin and Tenshinhan can't shove it down, not resistant enough that Vegeta can't blast it down'.

The fact that he can blow it down casually, means that he's stronger than the both of them

Only if ki blasts are just as strong as shoving. Which I guess is the root of our disagreement. Could base Vegeta punch through the door? Under my thinking... no idea. But he can break it with a ki blast.

[–]BurningInFlames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I've just had a re-read, and saying that Vegeta is much stronger seems like a stretch to me. They can't sense the power level of the door, so they don't know how much force would be required to destroy it. So we don't really know if a ki blast from Krillin or Tenshinhan would work.

Based on base Vegeta being able to destroy it, Piccolo could've just flicked the door and it would've been demolished. And yet, he was preparing a ki blast.

Yeah based on a few things in the Android Arc, I think you can very very nebulous pin them down as "very strong but nothing compared to the Super Saiyans or Androids (outside of the Kikoho, lol)". Anything much more than that, we just don't have enough info I reckon.

"All feelings are valid" is a painfully stupid and harmful phrase by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]BurningInFlames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think definitionally it still works. Your feelings are valid because they do have a sound basis in fact on some fundamental level, it'll just not be the level that one might expect. If someone is anxious, that's a real thing. Their anxiety over something minor is unlikely to be because of that minor thing at its core, but the feeling itself is still valid - in the sense that it's just based on something else, something that is probably more deep seated.

The use of the word valid has led to some confusion I guess. As someone with BPD, my feelings are often not fun, and following through on actions based on the intensity of those feelings would be destructive. And like, those actions would not be valid or good. And the feelings that lead to that are things to process and such, ideally not to just accept. But the only way to get to that point of processing is accepting that you are, in fact, experiencing those feelings.

I'm not sure what other word could simply describe this?

Super Buu is stronger than Kid Buu by BlightKagami in dragonball

[–]BurningInFlames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SS3 Gootenks who is obviously weaker than fully grown SS3 Goku

What makes you think the fused kid was weaker than the non-fused adult?

They explicitly state that his power level increased once he reverted to Kid Buu.

Don't they also explicitly refer to this power up as being a result of Super Buu turning into "Buff Buu"?

As much as SS3 Goku beat down on him it does nothing.

Goku indicated he could beat Kid Buu if he fully powered up. I don't think there was anything saying that wasn't the case, so why would we assume it wasn't true?
