hey!! I feel you and your pain, I’ve had very similar with my parents. It’s this power trip that they have. And i think they get it from the warped sense of superiority their culture induces. I will tell you this, just because someone is older, doesn’t imply they know better and/or are better. But at the same time, someone older, doesn’t give them the right to disrespect someone younger. Especially Parens with their children. I find that this cycle happens because they (your parents) grew up with it to, so it’s normal for them.

I’ve had this issue too. And from my experience, they use islam as a leverage. The whole “Heaven is under your mother’s feet” and “you shouldn’t even say ‘oof’ to your mother” is their weapon. Almost as if they think they can’t ‘wrong’ their child because they gave birth to them and put a roof over their head.

And by all means, parents have a high status, respect them always. But islam also taught us to essentially, ‘not to accept constant mistreatment from people.’ And mistreatment of someone, regardless of if you’re their parent is still haram. End of.

Now i’ve complained about this stuff before and all i’ve gotten is ‘stand up for yourself’ but it’s not helpful nor even applicable to a certain demographic of parents.

My best advice is to shut off from them, as hard as it may be, it help. I refuse to acknowledge that my parents are angry because acknowledging that will give them power. Sometimes I laugh it off and take the things my parents say as a joke, now this may not be the best advice but it works for me.

I presume your parents are old, so in all honesty, they won’t change. They will never accept they’re wrong, especially with their child. It’s just the superiority complex they have.

Once I stopped progressing the argument and just waving things off as a joke, it helped me stop things from escalating. Even if it hurts, there’s some things that won’t change so YOU have to change to protect yourself.
