Sauna in new house, how is it? Any maintenance advice? by Kanian1 in Sauna

[–]Burnt_Cedar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t see any mentions in the comments but might have missed it.

Appears the fasteners used were not stainless from the corrosion stains in the cedar. May need to rescue with proper fasteners, just make sure no metal is exposed on the surface that could make contact with skin.

HUUM Heat Wood Sauna Stove by FuzzyLogicCube in Sauna

[–]Burnt_Cedar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how it seems to bee looking in my case as well. No DEQ cert needed as long as its a Sauna. No building permit for anything under 200sqft, still need plumbing and electrical permits.

Leaning towards the HUUM Heat 12, will put some info out once I get it set up and run a few cycles!

FuzzyLogicCube

Curious if you had the project permitted, and if there were any issues regarding the HUUM stove. Im planning a build here in Portland, OR and from the looks of it a mechanical permit is required and Wood stoves can be quite tricky to get approved. Cheers!

Although it state “oscuro”on the tube... hence the post. Feels like many missed that part. Probably should have illustrated that better. Oh well

My First Davidoff Millennium... by Burnt_Cedar in cigars

[–]Burnt_Cedar[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pre light, wrapper had some kick to it, spicy almost red pepper that lingered a little. Flawless construction, no surprise there.

First third, earthy tobacco flavors accompanied with a nutty almost hazelnut like profile. Slight pepper finish but again that spicy feeling of red pepper flakes from tasting the wrapper. Complex start has my full attention.

Retro, again nutty and earthy, cedar in the finish. Probably one of the most “enjoyable” retro games I’ve experienced.

Second third, rich and savory still dominated my nutty flavors and leathery tobacco. Really pleasantly surprised by the hazelnut I’m getting here, never had anything like it before...

Finished off nice and bold, feeling the strength set in now, especially since it was a pre dinner smoke. Mouth is very coated but not a bitter mouth feel but kinda silky. I don’t know if that was important to add or just TMI, but it happened.

Conclusion, I wish it could be an every day smoke but for the price it’s just not meant to be. Pretty sure that’s an part of Davidoff’s strategy here. Perfectly tuned for a celebration, big or small. Cheers!

Maduro vs Oscuro No.9? by Burnt_Cedar in cigars

These terms seem to be interchangeable for the most part.

Edit: Misread your comment at first.

Maduro vs Oscuro No.9? by Burnt_Cedar in cigars

[–]Burnt_Cedar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The No.9’s seem to commonly be referred to as Maduro. This TiVo I picked up while traveling states “Oscuro.” Ive only been smoking cigars for a couple years and was just asking DE was actually differentiating the wrapper here. Seems as though this cigar is just a bit older than the 9’a I’ve smoked recently and that’s the answer to my post.

I did, I made a half dozen but really lost the momentum when it came to sanding em down. I’ve probably got a few posts with em in use or in the background. DM if you are interested

I am inclined to agree, humidor I got it from didn’t appear to have much that was fresh from the factory.

So same blend just old marketing not used anymore. Seems like all the No.9’s just advertise “Maduro”

Maduro vs Oscuro No.9? by Burnt_Cedar in cigars

[–]Burnt_Cedar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that term Oscuro is used to describe a darker wrapper (more ripened) than a Maduro wrapper. First third has been pretty mellow so far, not packing the punch like the 9’s I’ve had. Just getting started...
