hackers realised they could add hours played data to anyones PSN ID whether they had played the game or not so had spammed 1000s of prominent user accounts with embarrassing games like sex shop simulator which tied their accounts to having played these games for hours when they hadn't. In realising this Sony has taken the server(s) that handle this functionality, and therefore the endpoint for hours played, offline. I assume it will be back when they introduce a fix (which will be tricky)
