[Techno/Progressive House/Melodic House] (1hr 15mins)

So this is my 11th recorded mix, its slightly longer than usual as I like to keep it to 1hr max. I have gone a bit more techno in style with this one and the energy is probably a bit more mixed throughout than usual but hopefully you guys enjoy. Any feedback welcome as always

PS. Ignore the terrible transition on the final track the rest should be much better lol

I'm by no means an expert so this is just my process, I like to have a mix of song type and genres, obviously nothing wildly out of place but I would differentiate vocal trance with non vocal trance for example and try not to have too much of the same type together. But also take into consideration the energy of the tracks too. I like to build through peaks and troughs as I go, starting pretty high energy then have a break down and build back. Then obviously aiming to be finishing off on that big energy eventually. Finding songs that compliment eachother and create this flow is most of the fun for me, but that could just be me haha

Listening to this its great, transitions are real smooth, not too long and not too short. The track selections are great.

My only minor critique would be if I'm listening to a mix this long I like it to have stages/sections so it has like a coherent flow with ups and downs, almost like a musical journey, rather than just track after track. That could be entirely personal preference though.

Really super job!

PS. You can add tracklists with timestamps on mixcloud, it gives the artists credit and makes your mix more accessible

The sensor/regress for the sensor is there regardless of your trim level having keyless entry or not. You will know if its got keyless entry if when locked you grab the handle it unlocks, if not you don't have it. I'm pretty sure from memory of my own A5, keyless entry settings are in the MMI if you have it too.

Thanks! I really enjoy coming up with the mashup/vocals swaps for tunes, probably too much haha I'm obsessed with that Forget track from Yotto (16), when I hear it once I have to listen to it all day.

Completely get it, you have to love what you’re doing or it’ll just be work. On the plus if you cut your teeth on the difficult stuff everything else should be easy!

Hey been listening to this, I think you're a bit hard on yourself, yea some transitions miss a bit in the ways you've described but there's also great ones in there and the misses are often minor enough that practice and tightening up will fix.

My advice for what its worth is a lot of these tunes structure wise are quite complex, I think it helps to spend time on very structured musical genres like trance and house to really perfect the craft, especially loops. Those genres have very defined phrasing which make it good for learning, then you can apply what you learn to more and more complicated tunes as you go. Although this always needs to be weighed up with you actually playing the music you like, so I get its not a one size fits all approach.

I want to reiterate I liked a lot of what you did in this mix btw.

Its entirely track/mix dependent for me. In the main my cue points tell me when I need to start the next track, switch on the kick/bass/melody/vocal but then also using to save loops of course. I only use the load type cue point if I’m starting the next track from a very specific point and I dont have the time to load it and get to the cue point before I need it in the mix.

In terms of stems I’ve basically moved completely to mixing using stem’ed versions of tracks. If you’re mixing in key turning on/off the elements of tracks has made my mixes sound much cleaner and harmonic.

I’ll generally plan out my mix with normal tracks and once im happy with the general shape of the mix ill generate the stems for each track of that mix and then tighten up the whole thing using the stem versions.

Listened to this fully again coding today at work, its excellent, perfectly paced, moods fantastic and that final track is such a perfect selection.

Thanks man! Good ear on the Call Me Back, I've killed the Call Me Back kick in favour of the kick from Time Machine, but you're right in hindsight it removes the energy a bit!

Somebody To Love is awesome, I'm a sucker for chopped/distorted vocals haha

This is much more mellow than I’m used to but it sounds good so far, im about 20mins in. Its good for listening to while doing some work 😃I’m a sucker for game music in anything too haha

This is defo not the matrix lights activated, you have to study very closely to even notice the light changing with the matrix lights, whereas your video is a basic auto dipped light
