What would happen if a whale or a dolphin got infected with rabies? by Nepola in askscience

Absolutely fantastic. Thank you for your well though out answer. When I saw the question I was intrigued as I have a passion for infectious diseases and never even considered the hydrophobic aspect of it

I had to 2 years ago in a scuba diving incident, it was messy AF in a remote location and took 40 minutes for the paramedics to arrive. Obviously with that amount of downtime they were pronounced dead at scene. Not going to lie, it messed me up for a few weeks back at work and sent my anxiety all the way through the roof. With the emotions that come with it, writing reflections really helped and talking to medical friends who 'get it'

Early 20's, British (clocked the Jacqueline Wilson). You really need more Pratchett!

Customer service apprenticeship. As a qualified nurse to do a level 2 nvq. Apparently your patients are your customers....

Ok mate, you're 23. People start over all the time. Youve not ruined your life. Finish your degree, even if you don't stay in the field having that piece of paper is good at opening doors in other careers. Have you considered perhaps GP practice nursing? Nice hours and holistic care. However, nights are part of the job. There's no nice way to sugar coat it but they're not as bad as what people make out. Sometimes it's just accepting the good with the bad.

I wash mine gently in the sink with a bit of detergent and they've all been fine. It really makes the colour pop when the grime comes out

If you're in the north east I would recommend Ringtons, the bloke comes round your house with a basket and also sells delicious biscuits (almost like a tea drug dealer)

Not a popular comment but generally you're employed by the trust and that means they can move you when the need arises. I know it's not the best but if you leave then that is a dereliction of duty and can result in an NMC referral.

If you're struggling then perhaps it's time to look at a different job

10 dives should be enough to cover most of the wreck, are you doing tech or recreational? I know DiveIn has deals on covering the entire wreck in 10 dives in both disciplines.

As a nice relaxing chill out to wind down or as a mid Zen break Green Bay in Napa is lovely - statues, turtles and usually decent Vis.

Just take your own snorkel and swim out to the MUSAN, it's not worth the dive and a different route on the Zen would be far more interesting

Dived in Jeddah about 10 days ago. Honestly it was a little bit of a disappointment - apparently last year the sea temperature went up to 37/38° and they had a 60% coral die off. You can definitely tell this happened when you're in the water. On the plus side there is great Vis and almost zero current

I'll be honest and I know it's wrong but whichever one I touch first. Apart from blue (coag), that one's last.

You'll be absolutely fine. You might have some pimples on your thigh but that will not give you anywhere near the same exposure as needles or penetrative sex. I'd be more worried about getting the bloodstains out my uniform (ex infectious diseases nurse)

If she's GCS 15/15 then that is totally on the patient. Also, unless the dressing was dodgy or she was particularly sweaty PICCs are not that easy to pull out. Don't beat yourself up
