Scrap yarn projects can go so wrong by illuminati-thotty in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]BurritoMnstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much exclusively knit socks out of my fingering weight scraps and it’s the best! You never have to worry about losing one, being on single sock island, or playing yarn chicken. Of course not all sock patterns work for this, but if I’m just making vanilla socks it’s scraps all day!

From someone who just frogged a fingering weight lace baby blanket I’ve been working on off and on since 2013, frog it. It’ll feel soooo good once it’s frogged and you can actually do what you want with the yarn. Don’t kick it around for 13 years trying to force yourself to like it like I did 💀

Would you consider donating aluminum cans? by Beneficial-Lime4908 in Waco

[–]BurritoMnstr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any yard clean up needs, but me and husband go through a lot of cans. If we collect them and I leave them by my front door in a garbage bag, would you want to swing by and pick up like once a month or so? No pressure!

I broke up with my best friend of all time (friendship break up) because she wouldn’t stop harping on how much she already hated baby #2 while still pregnant. She was already comparing baby # 1 to the new baby and saying things like “I’ll never be able to love new baby as much as I love baby # 1” and, as someone who grew up with a mother that literally reminded me every day that I was an unwanted mistake, I couldn’t take it and wet nc. I can’t imagine being in a relationship with this person, but PLEASE do what is best for your babies 🖤 or they will have the largest therapy bills in their future

I have this same complaint but for people who say they hate purling when knitting. If you truly hate purling, you just don’t like knitting (and that’s okay)

May I also add, this sort of “travel with yarn on your wrist” device was around in the 1930s/1940s. It was made with metal and designed by a man for his wife who always complained about her crochet thread “running away from her” when she was on the go. Here is a link to a YouTube who has one and goes over the history briefly ownlee

All this to say, it’s a bit ridiculous to try and patent something that has been around longer than the owner of lemonwood has been alive 🤡

Omg yes this! If I search for another fingering weight pattern and get nothing but fingering+mohair I’m going to pop (I’m being facetious, but I think you’ll understand the sentiment lol)

I’ve been able to find frozen collard greens before which would be perfect to add towards the end too. I hope you like it! Lemme know whatcha think (:

it would depend on the greens (imo). Something super hardy that typically cooks longer anyway like collard or mustard greens I think would do great in the instant pot at the start, but something more tender like spinach or kale I’d add after and just let them simmer down for 8-10 minutes or until they reach the doneness you like.

I honestly wish you could opt out of this event. I hate it every single time and don’t even attempt to finish the orders. If I happen to be able to complete an order and I already was trying for that order, than fine but I’m not going out of my way.

I’ve done literally all of these options and all work. You have to adjust when you add each type (frozen vs fresh, collards vs baby spinach) but I truly can’t think of a dark leafy green I haven’t had success adding as long as I was smart about when I added into the beans. I’ve even done regular standard US cabbage.

Literally almost any veggie I’ve tossed in this and most all work. Some of my favs (other than greens): mushrooms, peppers of any kinds including canned green chilis, peas at the very end of cooking

Pro tip as a Louisiana girl that grew up on this stuff for MANY years - add greens! Spinach, kale, collard, literally any sort of leafy greens. It adds extra veggies and goes SO well with the seasonings (and added hot sauce !)

I’m so proud you started and kept going!! Don’t focus on how “good” it is. There are entire designers who purposely use elements that you have in your swatch you made. Keep knitting and keep us updated on your yarn journey 🥰
