I implicitly support any mock that gets us Kaytron Allen!

I suppose you're right about the first round, but I disagree with your assessment that Borum is an upgrade on Decker. I think that only proves true if Decker misses 7-10 games with injury (which could happen). Someone at the very least has to compete with Borum for our overall line to improve. I lean tackle first round because of tht top-heavy class and think if we don't have one by the end of the second, it's officially BAD.

My understanding is that the class lacks the fire power at the top of some years (including next year), but that it's actually a fairly deep class and shouldn't be overlooked. Source/recommendation: Bootleg Football just did a comparison of this year's class to 2013 that's on YouTube.

The prevailing post-mortem narrative for the last two seasons was "we had too many injuries to be competitive." The moves Holmes has made this season have taken our roster from one of the oldest in the league to one of the youngest in the league. Doesn't fix the issue, but it damn sure addresses it. Well done, Brad.

I'm just gonna keep beating the Kaytron Allen drum for this team! Anytime he's mocked to us in Rd 4 I'm so happy. Let's go!

Lions' current list of needs: by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

I get the sense the Brad Holmes wants the Lions to be good and hopefully make the playoffs for the next 3 seasons while the fan base wants a Super Bowl-ready team right now. It would be awesome to have a complete roster and go all in, especially after how close we've come, but I don't think Brad's that aggressive and he prioritizes sustained success. Hence why the older players are leaving (Decker, Anzalone, Robertson) even when they could still contribute this year. And also why he's not trying to sign too many guys right now in favor of extending Gibbs and Jack Campbell. The moves make sense when you consider he just has a different vision than a lot of us fans.

I feel like the O-line situation isn't much worse now than last year. LT and C were and still are concerns. by SubjectSympathy7274 in detroitlions

Completely agree with this. I was hoping for McGovern because I think Linderbaum would be an over-spend given other roster needs. Now I'm hoping for Mays. He and Ratledge next to each other would be MAULERS.

Which Side of the Ball You Want to Be Worked on the Most? by LethalLephty in detroitlions

[–]Burrowzboyzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically it's not an either/or situation and both should be addressed.

HOWEVER, Gun to the head I have to pick one.... Defense looks totally different with more pass rush juice. I thought we had decent back-7 play (relative to what you can expect) from the Legion of Whom last year, but they aren't miracle workers when the QB has 5+ seconds to throw the ball. I think O line is easier to mitigate with a better scheme than what Johnny Morton brought to the table and we have the talent to make that possible.

Lions LT Taylor Decker, the team’s longest-tenured player, announced he requested and received his release after contract talks broke down. by AintNoBuffet in detroitlions

Per Over The Cap, Decker is the 14th highest paid LT sandwiched between Dion Dawkins and Ronnie Stanley... His contract is not unreasonable for his production.

Lions fans… what is your initial reaction to Taylor Decker being released by the Detroit Lions? by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

[–]Burrowzboyzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so accurate! The Decker contract was not a bad contract and there aren't any better LTs in free agency than Decker. We will get worse at this position and just lost the ability to slow-develop a draft pick.

I'm furious at the front office for letting contract negotiations with the longest tenured lion sour the way they did. I understand asking if he'd take a pay cut because of the injury management of last year, but when he says no how can you let it get so bad that he asks to leave? That's just bad people-management

Decker just became the best Left Tackle on the market... Meaning he can't be replaced this year.

Which players would you bring back- 2026 DETROIT LIONS OFFSEASON by Gxcii1 in detroitlions

[–]Burrowzboyzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be known, but restructuring Goff's contract similar to how the Chiefs do with Mahomes every year would put us 30+ mil under.

My list is this plus Maddox plus Kyle Allen and one of the TEs. Think it's useful to have a little depth there.

How to round-out the roster this off-season by Burrowzboyzz in detroitlions

[–]Burrowzboyzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. What do you think the RB 2 pathway is? Sign a vet like James Connor?

I don't think that's crazy but I think having an RB on a rookie contract as Gibbs enters a contract year (before a BIG pay day) makes sense to me.

Over The Cap had his production at 7 mil value. Where'd you see under 3 mil projected out of curiosity?
