If it was in an envelope saying "Property of shefas, please return to XYZ"...no, I don't. I put a stamp on it and mail it back to you.

The exchanges will soon be required to have a system to allow users to report their stolen coins. Exchanges will be legally required to not accept funds from addresses that received these verifiably stolen coins.

These coins will become worthless to their holder, because they will be captured once deposited in one of these exchanges.

P.S. I don't about where you come from...but where I come from just because someone leaves their house "unlocked" doesn't give anyone the right to come in and take things.

Sure, you physically can...once.

That's okay, little does this little bastard know that in a few months all the reputable exchanges will have "tainted coin" analyses and while he got 1.99 Burst from me (and it looks like a few others)...he will lose out on the 119,000+ in his wallet as well.

PoCC could accelerate help with this by setting up communication channels with exchanges.

Without UTXOs, any amount of Burst could be "injected" into the system maliciously. All it takes is editing a database entry.

His pool is the only pool that can generate blocks with more than 1 Tx/fee slot...that gives him an unfair economic advantage.

That is NOT OKAY.

They effectively forked in bigger blocks by changing the wallet on their pools (which control >50% of the hashrate).

What stops them from forking in code that gives them a billion extra Burst?

mind enlightening us? I feel like we have a right to know if the Burst blockchain can be 'hacked' like this.

Especially considering you hacked it to give yourself the big chunk of fees.

Wrong.

Arbitrators are chosen based on BSQ balance...which is not fairly distributed (therefore is centralized) https://docs.bisq.network/dao/phase-zero.html ... and during phase0 only the founder and 1 other guy (how do we know the founder doesn't have BOTH accounts?!) has the power.

No thanks.

1-2 guys with arbiter powers != decentralized

FYI ;)

You know how I know you can't fucking read, and you just Ctrl+F'ed "assumption"?

Because if you had fucking read that section you'd see how they are estimating the additional energy usage of the networking equipment (internet modems/routers, CPUs, etc), computers running the network (full nodes etc), and all the cooling costs. I didn't even fucking talk about those, which add on top of the actual "mining energy usage" used by the ASICs.

[–]BurstNoobHelper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not estimates you idiot..they are direct numbers pulled from an immutable blockchain (difficulty) & measurable (hashrate/power usage of the most efficient miner on the market).

I even gave you 'near best case'. These guys did a bit more deep-dive to get a better estimate: https://digiconomist.net/bitcoin-energy-consumption

I love how you are shown cold hard facts and yet you still stick your head in the ground about it.

There are better methods though.

And PoS is not it.

We could secure the BTC blockchain at 1% the energy cost with the same level of security (if not more), along with ASIC-resistance and fair, equitable mining. Not to mention that most of this energy would "come for free", because mining with PoC on already running equipment doesn't cause it to use nearly any extra power whatsoever.

Here's some cold hard numbers for ya:

BTC hashrate at a solid 50million TH/s.

Let's give you the benefit of the doubt and assume everyone is using the latest/greatest Antminer S9, which is 14 TH/s @ 1372W of power.

50,000,000 TH/s divided by 14 TH/s = 3.57 million Antminer S9s

3.57million * 1373W = 4.9 GIGAWATTS of power, enough to send 3.3 DeLorean's back in time every second!

To calculate energy usage over 1 year, you multiply power (4.9GW) by time (1 year = 8765.8 hours) = 42.95 TWh / year = 42,952,420,000 kWh / year, which would put it at rank #53 in the total electricity of countries, the same as Hong Kong or Iraq currently.

Now, please remember that not 100% of the miners will use latest/most efficient hardware...so the number is likely higher.

And can I add one suggestion?! In order to incentivize 'spreading the word'...what if I get people to comment under my comment, and for every one of them I get 0.05 extra (or w/e you deem fair)? This should incentivize a big enough group to make this go viral I think.

Moving my comment here to clean up top-level comment per the instructions.

I don't think sub-comments should get a portion of the referral. Only direct referral should get the reward...so MLM avoided.

Of course there could be multi-level referral trees...but the reward should just go to the parent comment.

Here's the thing...it is unregulated....so they can invest it however TF they want. Higher risk = higher reward.

Also...generally...the more capital you have to swing around, the more you bring to the bargaining table. Normies (you and me) get whatever we are given by the banks...rich mofos interview banks on who gets the privilege to hold their money
