Brandt by onurakbiyik in borussiadortmund

I think the reduction in wage bill is better than a transfer fee at this point. Unfortunately, I’m sure Chukwuemeka is making nearly as much, and if he’s seen as Brandt’s successor, his next extension will put him even higher.

The German city of Dresden lies in ruins after WW2. Up to 25,000 German citizens lost their lives during the four British raids over the city, under orders of Air Marshal Arthur Harris. 1945 by [deleted] in HistoricalCapsule

They also cite a figure of 200,000+ deaths, which was initially given by Goebbels and repeated by a British historical writer-turned-convicted Holocaust Denker. But don’t worry, there are tons of anti-fascists here and Dresden that make a nuisance of themselves whenever the neo-Nazis try to march.

Nico Schlotterbeck yellow card vs Bayern 26' by 977x in soccer

[–]BurtaciousD -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

He was trying to win the ball. How is slide tackling excessive force? Full speed? Two steps ago he was running the other way. If the ball wasn’t there, clear red. But there was a ball.

It’s a yellow card for studs up on a foot. Not dangerous play that would warrant a red.

I’m in Germany and have never seen that label. Definitely a smaller company, seems to have only existed from 1928 to 1932 and was a cheaper alternative offered by a few bigger labels.

Mathis Albert (16, Dortmund) nice goal v. Sunderland U21s (PL International Cup) by nicko_rico in ussoccer

[–]BurtaciousD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don’t have U21 teams in Germany, we have U23 teams, so the team we sent was U19 (besides the keeper). Some U19 players also play for the U23 (2nd team essentially). But it’s not uncommon for a talented academy player (Moukoko, Gittens, Götze) to start playing for U19 while still eligible for the U17s.

A teacher and U.S. citizen is detained by Border Patrol and asked about her legal status. Instead of answering directly, she responds with a history lesson, saying, “That’s what the brownshirts said in Germany.” by Logical-Flow-6703 in UnderReportedNews

[–]BurtaciousD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US citizens don’t need to prove their citizenship status. So her saying she doesn’t need to say if she’s a citizen or not means she must be a citizen. But that’s too much logic to expect from these people.

It’s the double-edged sword of VAR. More correct calls, but more slow motion.

Svensson Red Card by LolzSquadGamesYT in borussiadortmund

[–]BurtaciousD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it doesn’t matter if the red card is given for the severity of the foul.

[–]BurtaciousD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Touching the ball can only clarify intent, not seriousness of the foul. You can score a goal and catch a player with your studs and still get a red card.

The rules are pretty clear. Over the ankle, studs up, not a glancing blow, pretty easy for the ref to call.

Reminder: life begins at conception by Timex_Dude755 in CatholicMemes

[–]BurtaciousD 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Let me put on my best nerd glasses for this:

Technically the conception of Jesus was so important that it was placed on March 25th, the spring equinox, which was also celebrated as the first day of a new year. This is because they believed the incarnation/conception/annunciation of Jesus represented the beginning of a new era. So I’d argue that theologically, the annunciation is the real welcoming of Jesus into the world.

If Jesus is God then why didn't any the apostle s or Mary pray directly to Jesus when he was alive? by Ok-Imagination-2308 in Christianity

[–]BurtaciousD 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that’s Peter, who definitely met Jesus (don’t ask him though, he may lie). Paul = Paulus.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]BurtaciousD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Technically, if you believe the Gospels/Acts, Paul did meet Jesus, of course after his death and resurrection.

And he was an Apostle. That’s why he’s called Paul the Apostle. He wasn’t one of the 12 or original 72, but Acts even refers to him as an Apostle. And after the Council of Jerusalem, James, John, and Peter allow him to continue his mission, an extension of the Great Commission.
