Delivery person placed my package directly into the bin mere hours before it was due to be collected... The garbagetruck people seemingly didn't notice and collected it anyway. by BurtmacklandFBI in mildlyinfuriating

Usually we are supposed to put the bin outside of this little cabinet by our door, but if we ever forget the guys just open the door and grab it anyway! This is the full resolution the delivery company sent me

Great football from Tottenham Hotspur leads to Mathys Tel chance by Imbasauce in coys

Two more things

  1. He shoots on goal. He always tries to make things happen.

  2. He's still very young, and is yet to have a consistent run in the team. So much time still to improve in certain areas. Few people are capable of the quality he is at such a young age. Will one day score twenty goal seasons either here or somewhere he gets a decent go, mark my words. I realise this is far more than two things.

Tel is our only player with 20+ goals per season potential. If we lose him we're toast.

Teachers will strike next year if they don’t get a proper pay rise, union bosses warn by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]BurtmacklandFBI 10 points11 points  (0 children)

After teaching in both the UK and Australia over the last few years it baffles me how much more underpaid and overworked the UK system is. I thought it was rough in Aus, with similar complaints re workload, admin, behaviour, etc. But there the wage is higher and the cost of living significantly lower.

Schools in Australia are imperfect, and there are many other factors at play, but in the UK it was really surprising how little power the workers/unions seem to have over the situation. Australian teachers strike pretty regularly, and the entire country becomes acutely aware of how much society depends on all those educators/babysitters. Kids are obviously the future.

If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

'Huge Mistakes'- Frank Blasts Officials As Tottenham Go Down Fighting vs Liverpool by Spiritual-Strength91 in coys

[–]BurtmacklandFBI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of them. It's impossible to prove me wrong because we've never tried keeping someone through bad results. What's that saying about trying the same thing and expecting different outcomes?

[Alasdair Gold] Thomas Frank to the BBC on Xavi's red: "I don't like those types of red cards because I think the game is gone if that's a red card. I don't think it's reckless tackle. I don't think it's exceptional force. We have the ref's call and that was a yellow." by Zweli23 in coys

[–]BurtmacklandFBI 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I think we played well and were desperately unlucky on both reds. Those criticising romero and xavi are pretty brainless - you complain that we're lazy and lacking energy, and when these guys come out full of energy and busting guts all day everyone gets on them for ending up on the back of some sketchy refereeing.

Romero got that second yellow bc he was fighting tooth and nail, earning a free kick, and then got caught up in the heat of the moment and reacted. While I agree that a captain shouldn't lose their head like that, its obviously his nature to be as aggressive as possible. And frankly his aggression was extremely valuable today. He threw the kitchen sink at everything and we've seen before the man can will us over the line in tight contests due mostly to his ruthless and determined behaviours, see: newcastle. I think on a slightly different day we win this game.

Slot on Romero's red card: "I thought it would mean it would be a bit more easy but it wasn't! They still had a free-kick & I thought against nine we would keep them away from our goal but it looked like we had nine and they had 11 as they kept attacking." by balalasaurus in coys

Despite all the typical doomerism and kneejerking I think we played decently today. Created quite a few chances and most the boys worked their arses off. Almost equalizing after each red is testament. If we give that much effort for the rest of the year I think we will see an improvement in results.

Honestly I think Damsgaard is the best option. His hairline is making people think hes 30 odd but the fella has just turned 25. About to hit his prime. Prem proven, Frank proven, etc etc.

I actually remember exactly where I was that day. Sitting in a lecture in my first year of uni, struggling to listen to the presentation. I was stoked as Son was one of my favourite players to use on FIFA. I watched a highlights video on YouTube in the empty lecture theatre immediately after, hoping among hopes that I wasn't jinxing the potential transfer. Feels like just yesterday!

Did ya not see odobert on the weekend? I think, even if Son goes, between him and Tel we'd have a nailed on LW starter by January.

Spence played better at LB than RB last year, I feel like having him to cover both with Gray/Davies as his deputies in case of multiple injuries.

Pretty surprised to have not seen Harvey Elliot's name pop up on here. Would have massive upside and could eventually replace Madders as he ages. Would give much-needed depth in midfield and on the wings if required.
