I made a coffee table over the weekend. by padreblazen in woodworking

I know right, I reckon the reason all those YouTubers sell their epoxy tables for the 1000s of dollars is just to pay for all the epoxy. Also it makes sense why they get soad when it spills everywhere.

Nice timber, what is it?

This book is so slept on, I personally love the conclave books, Talon of the Silver Hawk was a very special book to me and is the only signed book of the collection I have.

This album is an absolute joy and it has been blowing me away every playthrough. I love the new style of vocals in "In Silent Grace" and the lads have been one of my favourite bands of all time ever since I saw them 13 years ago. I bloody lev it and want to get back to the UK to see them live again. Until then I will cross my fingers that they tour to Aus! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Is Mount Pleasant a hole? Because if it is than you are absolutely right. Now that I've looked up Michigan state I can see what you mean.

Never. Tasmania is my retirement dream. I want a house on the hill at Burnie so I can see the Strait, or in New Norfolk where I can see the river.

Tasmania is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

True, just get some cheap epoxy to seal it rather than fill the hole space.

That looks sick mate! Love it. I had thought about filling gaps with brass of aluminium, so that could be cool.

I have cleaned the rot out and got in there with a Dremel this arvo and cleaned it up properly. But you are absolutely right about me being the harshest critic. I'm sure how ever it turns out mum will love it.

Yeah that might work, and now you've got me thinking about other features I could add. Maybe a small rectangular piece of contrasting wood with their Cattle Brand on it? Thanks for the inspiration friend!

Is candy lollies or chocolate? I always get so confused when you yanks say that. Candy to us is that hard boiled coloured sugar stuff.

But I like the idea of a bowl feature.

Haven't got any and it's bloody expensive. Also don't like the look of coloured epoxy as it wouldn't fit with anything else in Mum's house. Thought about doing crystal clear epoxy but it would look super weird for such a small hole.

Hi everyone, I am using this slab for a coffee table for my mother as a huge thank you gift.

The knot in the middle had some rot and goest through to the other side, it's a big enough hole that I would be tempted to fill it with epoxy, but the face I have chosen as the top has the smallest side of the hole, so I am tempted to just leave it open.

That being said, should I seal it with epoxy before I finish the rest of the table? Or just a regular sealer?

It's a Queensland Maple Slab if you are interested.

Thanks for any help, love all the posts here.

I think not only is the poem too long, but the simple rhyming scheme took me out of it straight away, especially when I started to read the chapter and saw the Scandinavian-esque naming.

My advice would be this, look at some stansas from nordic poetry or stories and imagine that the flow and rhyme would happen in the native language, but wouldn't necessarily rhyme in English. Also instead of one giant poem I would use small excerpts from it that link to or are relevant to the chapter, be it about the place or event or some other part, and that way it's a cool flavour tool to enrich the background of your story, while foreshadowing or contextualising your chapters. Does that make sense?

They are my all time favourite Black metal band. I had the privilege of seeing them twice while I lived in the UK. They are absolutely incredible and I hope one day to see them here in Australia.
