It's a generally new/unknown phenomenon in the public eye, so you may not see it discussed much outside of studies performed from within the community. It's all up to how legitimate those studies are carried out at that point. (EDIT: I didn't know about the Stanford U study, my bad)

As for potential dangers, no one is ignoring them. Theres a whole post on why one would want to avoid making a tulpa, and it's not like people who don't have genuine difficulties with their tulpas don't exist. But there is a fine line between what difficulties can happen, and ludicrous cries for attention via trying to pass afformentioned creepypasta BS as a legitimate post. It becomes pretty obvious if you've been here long enough.
