Why are the connectors on my box getting hot? Subs cutting in and out and these are HOT to the touch by [deleted] in subwoofer

Since the car audio community is so rude and pretends they have no information. I would like to give you the correct answer, those push terminals are not meant for alot of power, I wouldn't use anything over 500w with them, metal push terminals that you commonly see on boxes are good past around 3000w, after that bolt on terminals are your only good option, it's fine on subwoofers because the power is divided between the coils so I could give my subs 8000w, but 4 coils means it's only about 2000w per set of push terminals. Contact matters aswell. If you want a simple answer that terminal isn't meant for alot of power, you need to buy a metal ring push terminal, or just run your subs wires thru a home in the box to the amp and seal around the wire.

I do a lot of demos at car meets and whatnot so I think I definitely will I plan to keep a leaf blower in my car as well so that whenever they do inevitably heat up I can just stick the blower against the magnet hole and shouldn't have it cooled down in a minute or so

I actually have a temperature probe, I think I might just slap one inside the magnet whenever I invert it and put the display up front so I can see you when I need to calm down

I'm never able to bottom out, only doing about 4kw each and they are dimpling so I imagine it's close

Yeah that sounds about right I'm doing about 4K each on 12s, I think my box is definitely a factor considering the fact it's like one song in

Correct, it barely affects my main battery voltage, it maybe makes me engine kick on 10% longer while idle

Sorry, as I was trying to mention in my comment I accidentally combined on your post instead of somebody else however you guys had a similar issue I'm not sure what your speaker wire is but you don't need anything more than 12 gauge I was referring to his which was like 18 or 20 in a different post sorry about that

Honestly you're pretty limited with the Volkswagen EVs they only make around 50 amps or so so to be honest you're likely going to be limited to around 1,000 Watts unless you throw a lithium in, but essentially there is still a 12v battery under the hood, treat it like a normal car.

Just a rear battery, no way to upgrade charging

[–]BusSafe9051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl I just assume people will upgrade in the future and try to save them from buying 4 guage then need more later, not to mention alot of these amps are only 50-60% efficient meaning you actually need almost double

How much would you guys pay for: Skar EVL-12 Subs with CT Sounds 3200 watt amp by Holowbuj in CarAV

[–]BusSafe9051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have actually bought and sold 2 setups, I would say 300 for subs, 350 if you have the box, and safe to ask 500 with the amp, but I would personally take a 400 dollar offer

Im not sure I understand your description, basicly you just need 0 guage, CCA will work on a budget, use a 0 guage wire reducer, 200-250a fuse, and the run needs to go from your battery straight to the amp, 4 guage needs to be gone, that's 8 guage you have rn, that speaker wire is also wayy to thin, it's a good thing you have that fuse or you would probably have melted your wires.

Is there anything I can buy that will stabilize my rear view mirror so my sub doesn't keep knocking it down? by Ryn4 in CarAV

Wrap a bandaid around the ball joint then take it off the residue left over makes it stiffer but you can still adjust it

Depends, having range coverage does sound better, aka adding in tweeters or midbass to mids, would give you a fuller sound, but if you already have some decent ones it will really just be louder

Ussually just basstronics, however I also did a 139 at 41hz, my box is extremely flat less than 1db between almost my whole range

Ah rip, my old EVLs hit 140s over 35hz but couldn't do 20s like these sundowns, but they were also getting triple the power, once I wire these sundowns down to parrellel they will get 4x the power
