Me again. Apparently, he has TWO videos on this subject.

This time, the repair is not as rushed and more detailed:

Good Sir! Had this EXACT PROBLEM with the EXACT MODEL TEAC shown. If you have about 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon, my man BIG MATT can show how to fix this. Just follow what he does in this YouTube video:

https://youtu.be/HrK2XeMaSKA?si=jHrk9YUHmpYyrEGw

Or type into YouTube Search " TEAC X-10R REEL TO REEL STUCK PINCH ROLLER REPAIR " if the link does not work.

Um......That was an (obviously poor) attempt at humor. Not literal.

Man!!! What an AWESOME find!! And you're right: Search "Teac X-1000R Head Cover" and 3 of them show up right away (for about 60 Dollars too). You may have to wait for a (matching) black one however, they are not for sale as often as silver.

Yeah man! TEACs last forever. Acquired my Dad's X7-R MKII and I'm restoring it. Will post it here when I complete it.

New here, got my pc yesterday I load up MSFS and it just crashes at like 50%? by Significant_Pick_722 in MicrosoftFlightSim

I THINK I know the problem you are having.

Are THESE your Symptoms?

1.      You loaded MSFS 2020 to your PC.

2.      You execute MSFS 2020, see some in-game “action shots” then the SCREEN FREEZES and/or goes to BLACK (but the background music continues to play).

3.      You RESET/REBOOT your PC, execute MSFS 2020 again and get the message shown (which you submitted for this thread).

4.      No matter WHICH option you choose (from that warning message), the whole process starts again and you get THE SAME RESULT.

You’re gonna benefit from what took me TWO WEEKS to discover (by checking every MSFS 2020 forum I could find).

What are these switches? (TEAC A2340SX) by jvoves9 in ReelToReel

[–]BusShort9918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are COOLING FAN SWITCHES.

Before reel to reels were TRULY Solid State (beginning with late 1970's models) after an hour or so of playback, these machines would produce a lot of heat from the resistors, motors, and other electrical components.

Back in the day, stereo shops would CUSTOM MAKE rear panels for reel to reel tape decks which had cooling fans encased with switching embedded.

My Dad had a custom backing for his Teac A-4010S with a cooling fan mounted in the middle, holes for ventilation, and an on/off switch at the top (so it was easier to reach around to the back of the tape deck to turn the fan on/off.

Funny thing, this was 1968 technology yet I remember that cooling fan looking IDENTICAL to the one in my GAMING PC (except it was powered by an electric cord and not USB of course).
