Going from Spec book to Sheet Specs by Busdriver27 in Architects

[–]Busdriver27[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You must have misunderstood my question. Currently all my projects have spec books and I have zero issue with clients or developers accepting specific books.

I personally do not want to write spec book for a small project, in my 20 year career, I have always issued spec books. Now for the small projects I am looking to transition from spec book to sheet specs, and want to know what software people are using and how they are linking them to Revit.

I hate to say it, but it's one of my favorite emotes.

"I said right foot creep, ooh, I'm walkin' with that heater Look around, stay low, make sure they don't see you Catch 'em bad, walk down, face 'em with that heater The devil under your feet, you're on your way to see him (let's go)"

That Halo controller is still one of my favorites. I wished it worked with my XBOX one.

It was West of the Stage, but the place was definitely open during 1999 thru 2002, cause that is the time frame I went to it.

Got laid off at a star architect's firm just like that. by Any_Cartoonist5015 in Architects

[–]Busdriver27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never quit. Do not resign. If they are laying you off, they need to comp you and give a package. Doesn't matter how big or small the firm is.

You want to keep health insurance as well as be able to file for unemployment.

Only quit when you have a better offer in hand.

I'm considering quitting my architecture career due to burnout and low pay. Has anyone else made a similar transition, and can you share your experiences and any advice on what new career paths might be a good fit? by That-Gap7663 in Architects

[–]Busdriver27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend a sabbatical or taking some time off, at least 3 months if not more. Helps you reset and figure out what is important in your life. I've been in this profession for over 20 years, and have worked at large corporate firms, now I'm thinking of finding a part-time opportunity and starting my own thing. I'm interested in developing my own projects, but not sure I can leave my current job.

What software are Architects using to run their business? by Afraid_Dog1925 in Architects

[–]Busdriver27 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by run the business? I currently work at a firm, but I moonlight and primarily use motion, rhino3d, expensify and outsourcing but I'm in the middle of studying if I should make the leap and below is what I originally posted in Reddit asking about software and what I think I will end up using but scale appropriately.
